Anybody else find Senators opening statements a horror?
Senators get on the Judiciary Committee because they like the limelight and most of them are lawyers.

If a candidate for a court is coming to be asked questions, just ask the damn questions. I do not care what Chuck Schumer or some republican douchebag think about various things. Ask good questions and vary from your script if a productive avenue appears.

I find the speachifying infuriating.

1. Mostly, but I do want to hear what Senator Al Franken has to say.

2. Sessions more or less said,
"I'm a fucking racist, I don't care who knows it, and I will not vote for her under any circumstances."

4. A grand tradition of blowhardiness.
Seriously, every time I watch this stuff, the "question" is a five minute speech about the senator's personal views followed by a question that requires the thinking appointee to preface with, "If I understand your question correctly." or to simply answer as if a relevant question had been asked.

And it's a bipartisan thing. The only difference from where I sit, is that the Democrats will sometimes embarrass me, while the Republicans sometimes piss me off.
