Things I learned at book club today:
People on Welfare go to the ER when they have a cold.

They call a free cab to get there.

Obama is going to ration health care.

An unmarried couple with a sick baby shouldn't expect the baby to get a liver transplant (after all, there are adults waiting)

Obama's health care plan is going to bankrupt the country....

unless the stimulus package does so first!

16. Is there a Democratic Party group in your town? Why not join them?
Or some other progressive group. It may not broaden your interest base, but the book club does not sound as though it would either.

6. You would hope that people who read enought to join a book club
would be reading enough to be better educated than this. Obviously their choice of reading material could be improved. How truly scary and sad. :(

12. Good start. Your assignment for the next meeting is to
prepare unassailable arguments contradicting all their statements.

Grades will be mailed out next month :)

15. well, there are free car services available for medical appointments, right?
Someone was discussing them in another thread here...

And I'm sure some people go to the ER for frivolous reasons... but if you're insured privately, it's OK to squander medical resources, right? :/

17. I think it's good sometimes to find out what other people are thinking.
Like I slipped in the notion that the reason England's National Health has had problems is the class structure - people are scared to death some undeserving person somewhere will get something.
