My aunt says Palin should have told a better lie |
|
Edited on Mon Jul-13-09 10:48 PM by LuckyTheDog
My aunt wonders why Sarah Palin didn't cite her baby as the reason for her resignation as Alaska governor. Palin could have said she was resigning to tend to the "special needs" of Trig -- implying that there was more going on with him that has been made known.
That strategy would have gained Palin oodles and of sympathy. It also would have ad the advantage of being impossible to debunk. Unlike Alaska's legal bills, Trig's medical records are not open for public inspection. And besides, no decent journalist would be caught dead trying to dig up the dirt on the medical condition of a baby. Nobody would even ask for the details.
Palin should have had my aunt on the payroll before she stuck her foot in it with that resignation speech.
As Bugs Bunny would say: "What a maroon."

2. She couldn't use that as the excuse. |

Otherwise, how to explain the tour to promote the book, the constant appearances on the rubber chicken circuit for any wing nut candidate that wants to raise $50,000 by having her speak (for a fee of course) and all of the other cashing in while she is still semi-famous. If she said that she was taking care of Trig... well, it would be awkward.

If anybody noticed that stuff, she could have then simply said something to the effect of: "How dare you judge my fitness as a mother" -- and then blathered on about how Todd was back home with the kid and how she, as a non-elitist, average mom needed to be out there earning money for the family. As a kicker, she could have called such criticism sexist and demeaning to her husband's role as a co-nurturer of Trig.
She could have pulled it off.

11. But if TAWD is taking care of the special needs kid... |
|
why did SHE have to resign using that as the excuse.
And the people would would be up in arms over the hypocrisy would be other mothers, especially those with small children or special needs children. And you know the media would be all over it.
No, she quit to be "king maker" and to hit the jackpot. Strike while the iron is hot and all that. But it means being in the lower 48, not in Alaska. And she couldn't say that Trig was the reason without giving up that dream (and the further dream of using her imagined popularity to win the 2012 nomination).

4. As a parent of a special needs child |
|
I could never, and will never use my child as a fake excuse for anything that I might need to be excused for. That's a lie that I couldn't live with.
I have no idea what the hell is going on with Palin, but I understand the distaste of using Trig as an excuse.

7. I suppose this could speak well of Palin |
|
Or, it could be (as my aunt seems to think) that Palin would have used the excuse had she thought of it.

12. I am still upset about her parading Trig around during the election |
|
with all of the loud noises, lights and late nights. Absolutely unforgivable. Even for an infant child that is not special needs it is still not acceptable.

13. It doesn't matter the reason or excuse. Even if legit. If she can't hack Gov. of 600K people, |
|
she can't hack President of 300 million.
