How could we have missed the BIGGEST news story of the day?
Federal Judge to hear Obama Birth Certificate on the Merits!

At the hearing today at the Federal Court building in Santa Ana, Judge Carter reportedly said the following:
1. There will be a trial.
2. It will be heard on the merits.
3. Nothing will be dismissed on proceedural issues.
4. The trial will be expeditious, and the judge pledged to give case priority.
5. Being a former Marine he realizes the importance of having a Constitutionally qualified POTUS/CINC.
6. Judge stated that if Obama isn't Constitutionally qualifed he needs to leave the White House

One would think that news of this importance would have been covered by the networks, the major newspapers, and last; but not least...DU.

But, noooooo! I have to learn this at FR. Could it be true? Being ever the skeptic, I had to double check the accuracy of this story. My answer came quickly. I googled "Obama eligibility case will be heard on merits", and came up with 35,100 hits!

And as soon as I realized this had been reported at godlikeproductions.com, therightsideoflife.com, as well as that bastion of truth, FR...that was enough for me. Well, that and all the "WOOHOOS!"

I am crushed.

14. I think it's probably more than a few that aren't getting it...
Glad you did, and probably the mods too. ;)

It's amazing to me that a "story" like this can be picked up and passed around as the truth by the Repubs without so much as even a single reliable news source.

I went to several of the sites that ran this one, typos and all. Some of the comments are a riot.

6. Next step for them is,
they no longer have to pay any Federal taxes. The thing about being crazy is that it never gets any better until you admit it and seek help.

9. Well, according to the court calendar, Judge Carter isn't doing any such thing today.

Looks to me like it says he's in a "Status Conference" in a criminal case against three defendants.

Took about three minutes to discover the primary source of this rumor is Orly Taitz.

She's made many such claims in the past. She claimed John Roberts himself was taking up a case after she handed him her dossier. Nothing came of it. That's one example of literally hundreds of similar claims that were all bullshit.

It's bullshit.

IT's also the standard fund raising ploy in Birferland. She makes a phony claim about "real progress", asks for donations, then doesn't say shit when it turns out to be phony.

13. Digging into this more and more
Taitz is making a lot out of a procedural hearing. There is an account of this at yestodemocracy.com and apparently Taitz had little knowledge in the differences between procedural hearings and presneting merits of the case. The judge scolded her a few times during the hearing but, as is appropriate, said the case will be decided on the merits.

The Freepers have gone wild over it as has the entire Birfer conspiracy theory network.

The funniest bit yet is not a single one of them has brought up the fact that The Honorable David O. Carter was appointed to his judgeship by none other than Will JEfferson Clinton.

This is going to be good. The DOJ will end up bringing in the document that Obama posted on his site and the judge will summarily dismiss because Obama has proven his status as a natural born citizen.

Soldier balks at deploying; says Obama isn’t president

U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook, set to deploy to Afghanistan, says he shouldn’t have to go.

His reason?

Barack Obama was never eligible to be president because he wasn’t born in the United States.

Cook’s lawyer, Orly Taitz, who has also challenged the legitimacy of Obama’s presidency in other courts, filed a request last week in federal court seeking a temporary restraining order and status as a conscientious objector for his client.

*****snip****

Documents show Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961, two years after it became a state.

A hearing to discuss Cook’s requests will take place in federal court here Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

I would like to see this birth certificate issue finally resolved. Somehow, I think it such a popular conspiracy theory that even if absolutely irrefutable evidence is presented it will still be doubted.

17. Carter = Clinton nominee.
I wonder if he is doing this to get a rule of the case ~~ that could put an end to the continuous, time-wasting, bullshit filing in feddie court by the birthers.
