How the repugs--with straight faces--can decry empathy in anyone who must make consequential decisions and declare that brown, black, female, and gay perspectives are not valid perspectives boggles my mind. They truly believe that the white, male, upper middle class, and, for the most part, Southern man's experiences are the "real" and "impartial" experiences by which all is judged. It shows how great the culture divide is: liberals and conservatives possess antithetical world views, and I don't see how they can ever be reconciled.
