A personal invite to all those Duers that have left in that last few months...
To come back and join us in the fight for democracy and truth. We need you in this battle. It is obvious that our struggle did not end with the election of Barack Obama. We have a Republican Party more desperate and more radical than ever. We still have a Democratic Party that needs support until they can grow a backbone, especially as long as we have the Blue Dogs voting with the radical Repubs. We have a lot of work still to be done.

Now that some changes have taken place on DU, it should be more open to your opinions and input. I know there are many good DUers still out there. Help us out. Your presence is needed and greatly appreciated.

Because I don't see them anymore?
It's easy to disappear without being noticed but we have lost some old timers that have been very valuable to this site and the pursuit of truth.

8. Oh. I thought you meant the newer people who get kicked off just
because they don't agree with one person's opinion on an issue even though they are liberal democrats to the bone.

Thanks for the clarification.

14. I know of a handful of people who didn't make it through their >1000 post initiation,
of everyone assuming they must be a freeper in disguise.

15. Yes. There are a lot of them that I don't see anymore.
It could be that they are taking a break from DU.

26. Yep. I must have a dozen tombstones in my buddy list, and I only made that thing
a few months ago. Lots of other pals were sent off long before that.

And then, as the OP said, there seem to be many who have just drifted away. :(

12. That's pretty sad.
Not that their back, but that they would leave and be able to be "brought back" by something so silly.

10. The Democratic Part has more problems that just the self-identified "Blue Dogs"
That group in the House just takes an overt name. Practically the entire Senate (not all, but most) is "Blue Dog" at heart. Virtually all of the Washington politicians, Democrat as well as republican are deeply indebted to special interests, and primarily concerned with $$$$$$ and maintaining their own positions of money, power and influence.

The overwhelming majority of representatives in congress are still men, still white and still old - and overwhelming majority of Senators (I'm not sure about the House) are at least millionaires. The primary donors to everyone are corporations and the primary voice heard in Washington is that reflected by the army of massively funded full time corporate lobbyists.

And then people wonder why their is a problem, or wonder why someone like Obama with arguably (and I believe this) good intentions brings far less "change" than were led to hope for. (Give it time, blah blah blah - I think you can take a look at our political system and pretty much predict how much success a President will have in bringing dramatic change.)

16. Not working now, so I only stop in occasionally
Besides, I've decided to take a hands off approach for awhile. I told people here that I would give President Obama 2 years to turn things around, and that if he didn't, that we would have to come up with something new.

Still marking my calendar.

17. I've Seen Some On Another Site...
No need to mention the name...and they seem to be happy there..bashing everyone...Democrats, rushpublicans...angry and frustrated.

Sadly too many took this place personally...sometime ya need to step back and smell the roses.

18. Thanks. We'll see.
I'm a longtime lurker and mostly infrequent poster. I have to admit, the vitriol on some boards recently has been spectacular.

Also not a big fan of how some folks disparage everything Obama has done/hasn't done. (see: we should have been out of Iraq Jan 21 2009, where's my recovered economy dammit, Obama has already sold us to name that special interest group, etc.)

For a group that should still be celebrating the victories and the milestones, we seem to be awfully focused on what hasn't happened yet...

I AM concerned about people who call themselves Democrats but who are clearly still enthralled with Republican ways. We need to boot Harry Reid and remind Dianne Feinstein who she works for.

Thanks for the reminder of why I began to come here so long ago...I'll keep sticking around as long as sensible folks like you are here.
