I like her.
and I think she'll be a solid Justice. On one important point, she's spot on: There is no such animal as as an objective judge. To put it simply, we aren't objects, we're subjects and thus our subjective experiences are brought to bear. It's the recognition that one holds biases about any given subject that helps to ameliorate those biases. Nothing but self-awareness can do that.

Sonia Sotomayor will be a good Supreme Court Justice.

I've read snippets of other speeches. I think she's an inspired choice.

7. I like her too. She was my #1 choice from the short list.
Not because she's as liberal as I'd like. In fact, when it comes to the criminal law, she's quite conservative, but because her selection was a good political move for the party, and because she's undoubtedly qualified and liberal enough on most issues.

I should add that her assessment on subjectivity is spot on, and I give her a lot of credit for saying so in a Congressional hearing.

9. You know... I hate to admit it but...
I really don't know squat about her. Between personal things that need looking after and what I have been paying attention to... I just have not had the time. So much shit going on... I just can't focus on all of it :(

She's an intelligent person. Of course she will make a great Supreme Court Justice, especially if she goes about the job with her empathy intact.

of time, with a busted ankle, having to listen and respond to the likes of Beauregard Sessions and Goober Graham --and maintain her cool--can pretty much handle anything. She's fierce in my book.

12. I didn't, but I'm really on my way to liking her.
Surely the fact that I despise Jess Sessions and Beverley Leslie has something to do with it. But I started out not thinking highly of her largely due to the Ricci decision and her "wise Latina" remark. That's really not enough to base a decision (on my part) on. Besides, if I liked her too much, then she would probably disappoint me on a regular basis.

on abortion rights. That hasn't been established yet, just assumed. For me, it is THE issue. She is Catholic so I have some concern. You really never know how a Justice will be until they're on the court. My fingers are crossed.

Edit to add: I like everything about her I've seen and heard so far, even the wise Latina comment. I happen to agree with her on that.

20. Agree. Sotomayor is top-drawer.
Jeff Sessions disgraced himself today. I urge others to contact his Senate office to say so.

22. I generally agree with you, though....
I would like more information on how she views:

Corporation vs Consumers

Unitary Executive vs The Constitution

Money = Free Speech (Fair campaigns)

All the oxygen is being sucked out of the room on RACE.

K&R anyway.
I like her, and I like how she handled that old slug of a Southern Bigot Sessions.
(I AM a Southerner, so I'm allowed to make that statement) :)
