Poll question: How many votes will Sotomayor obtain from the full Senate? |
|
Vote and then please guess a specific number. Yes, after the hearings today I am assuming she will be confirmed.

3. I think you're probably right |

She hasn't given them any red meat to chew on, it will just look petty to vote against her. Still I expect 25-30 Rethugs will do so, moved solely by ideology.
On the other hand, that's what we did the last couple of times, as well. It's just a game they all play.

14. Their vote against her will be primarily ideology and to placate the base. |

Even if the GOPers don't want to vote against her, their horrible racist constituents will punish them if they don't. I can foresee a few of them jumping ship and voting for her but the others will become martyrs for the cause.

10. I'm hoping that there won't be a filibuster. If the Democrats can keep everyone |
|
together, then the vote will end up 60-40. The republican base will crucify them if they vote for her.

16. 57 - 59. But she will not be fillibustered. |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-14-09 07:50 PM by D23MIURG23
She will draw 2 or three republicans in the actual up or down vote which will be balanced by a slightly greater number of "centrist" attention whores like Lieberman and Nelson, who will vote against her so that they can feel sufficiently... whatever they get out of having their noses up McConnell's tailpipe.
But she will get through, because enough republicans and DINOs understand that trying to block her is not a good idea barring any major skeletons/meltdowns.
