Lindsay Graham: "In the future, when people that look like me are the minority,
we need to make sure Judge that you won't treat us with the contempt, hatred, vitriol and prejudice that we practiced"

Anyway, I'm paraphrasing, but I could tell the little shit was worried about what would happen when he joins the ranks of the minority.

17. Here's the part I caught. Emphasis mine
"GRAHAM: I think, for a long time, a lot of talented women were asked, can you type? And were trying to get beyond that and improve as a nation.

So when it comes to the idea that we should consciously try to include more people in the legal process and the judicial process, from different backgrounds, count me in.

But your speeches don’t really say that to me. They — along the lines of what Senator Kyl was saying — they kind of represent the idea, there’s a day coming when there’ll be more of us — women and minorities — and we’re going to change the law.

And what I hope we’ll take away from this hearing is there need to be more women and minorities in the law to make a better America. And the law needs to be there for all of us, if and when we need it."

IMHO - It seemed he was concerned of that day when there will be "more of us", and "less of him".

Actually, less of him would more than likely be a good thing.

20. Not to shoot fish in a barrel by highlighting Graham's and Repuke hypocrisy
But how can he make a statement like this with a straight face?

"GRAHAM: You know what? If that comes of this hearing, the hearing has been worth it all, that some people deserve a second chance when they misspeak and you would look at the entire life story to determine whether this is an aberration or just a reflection of your real soul. If that comes from this hearing, then we’ve probably done the country some good."

But Lindey, I thought we weren't supposed to let our "feelings or experiences" influence us???? :wtf:

40. I am beginning to believe
that the election of Barack Obama was the final battle in the Civil War. Repukes are going to become continually marginalized to a few whack-job Southern areas, and like Lee's army, they are going to find themselves starving and out of supplies.

We have an opportunity to drive a stake through the heart of the "Confederacy" once and for all.

37. but neo cons have proven that white men are unfit to self-rule
to wit: their reasons for taking away adult authority/rights from everyone else on the argument that (put whatever here) THIS particular ethnicity would never see any wrong-doing by a member of his own tribe/clan/family/group.

The neo cons have gone & done the very thing. No perceived law-breaking or any other illegal activity, however small, will ever be admitted by the savage neo con tribe. Therefore, they are unfit to rule themselves. I don't know if I should put a sarcasm tag or not.....

Edited on Wed Jul-15-09 08:09 AM by MercutioATC
Let's face it, Caucasians are still going to be the majority race in the U.S. well after Graham dies.

He may be worrying about his great great grandchildren, but I don't see the personal interest in this...and it WAS an admission or wrongdoing.

8. Explains a little something about the rage of many anti-choice fanatics too.
There seem to be many who fear becoming a minority because they know racists are deserving of some pay-back, and they project their own hate onto everyone else. Doesn't dawn on them that others might be more civilized than they are.

10. The White Man's Default...
If there's one hallmark of what's left of the rushpublican party, it's how it views the world through only one set of eyes...a middle-aged white christian male. It's a view distorted by dreams of the 50's and fantasies of Raygun and hardened by 20 years of hate radio, right wing "think" tanks and a more and more insulated and inclusive party. It's a simple way to live...good vs. evil, us vs. them and always being self righteous and blissfully ignorant.

Somehow, by "standing up" to the evil, nasty, hispanic lady, it makes the flying monkeys feel like they're showing us whose boss. Instead they keep showing what major douchenozzles they are.

it explains his world view. Do unto others because you can. Naturally he believes others are just like him. It's classic projection.

If his worse fears were to happen, he would whine the loudest about how 'unfair' he was being treated. Sort of like what Palin's doing now.

"Republican" my contempt, hatred and vitriol for that minority crosses racial, gender, and religious affiliation. I usually keep it to myself but on occasions it does surface.

21. That's a picture that's at the least, educational to think on
Picture a majority female court - with a majority African American, Latino, etc heritage.

How would that impact the constitution and the laws of the land?

I can't help but think it might be a good thing, myself. A little course correction perhaps?

38. As long as "people that look like him" control the money, there is nothing to worry about.
The people that own the country now are the same people that owned the country throughout our history and will be the same people that own the country in the future. This whole threatened white guy thing is hilarious. It's the oldest trick in the book, played by the oldest players of the game and people still fall for it. It's never really been about race, it's always been about wealth. And you can't have it, no matter how white you are.
