So what is it about Sotomayor that Republicans don't understand? |
|
I just heard Session on C-SPAN radio say that Sotomayor has not been clear about anything. I'm not even an attorney and I understand her perfectly fime.

the only good thing is that the attitudes of the GOPers on that committee is ruining the GOP among latino voters. Pretty soon all the repukes will have are the far right racist vote.

And a woman at that.
As for her "wise Latina" comment, first, it was taken out of context and didn't mean what they insist it meant. They either have a real problem with comprehension OR they absolutely make shit up. Second if it had meant what they say it meant it would have been true if she had replaced the words white man with "foolish Republican" .
How can anyone watching this justify the election of these loons to government office? Or did they buy their seats and throw the votes of the people of their states away? OR are the people of their states who voted for the Senators raving maniacs? I just don't get how anyone could vote for these people. Even those with a few screws loose should recognize that they aren't Senator/Representative material.

6. They assume that everyone is as racists as they are. |
|
It's impossible for them believe that someone that isn't white doesn't have all the same prejudices against whites that they have against non-whites.

Some people are cunning but do not have the ability to really understand things. That seems very strange to me, but I have seen it frequently. These are the sorts of people who eventually get caught in some huge lie or swindle. And once they are caught and you find out about the stupid scam they tried to pull, you ask yourself, "How could someone so wealthy be so stupid?" Think Bernie Madoff. There is a guy who really did not understand much, but was able to fool a lot of people and to think up exceedingly clever ways to cheat people. Had he really had the intelligence to analyze what he was doing and what the most likely ultimate outcome would be, he would not have done what he did. He would have stopped very early on, or he would have measured his scheme to protect himself. Think also about the mortgage company moguls. They had the ability to launch their assault on our economy, but they did not have the ability to understand where the whole thing would take them and the country.
These types end up in jail.
As someone once said, bank robbers are really, really stupid. Sessions is really, really stupid. But, he believes his own stupidity to the point that he is really good at persuading voters that he knows what he is doing. He does not. He cannot follow what Sotomayor is saying. He only hears the clatter in his own brain.

10. They are discombobulated |
|
Sessions and Graham aren't accustomed to dealing with "inferiors" who think they are as good as any white man. And, considering that Sotomayor has a personal history of success and accomplishment that Sessions and Graham can never match (even with their built-in social advantages), it doubly discombobulates them.

'the pursuit of happiness for the elite few at the expense of the life and liberty of the many' which is the way the repubs see it, want it, imo.

There, that's the crux of the whole matter. ;-)
