(and I must confess I kind of like him) and in as much as I can judge as somebody with zero legal training, Specter is an excellent jurist, and takes legal matters, especially consititutional ones, very seriously.

he's a bully --

and intentionally set out to hide information, distort information and

intimidate witnesses -

But guess that 40 or more years of betraying the law is over now -- !!

10. Wasn't paying close attention, but it seemed like Specter wanted to tell a future SC justice...
what cases to agree to hear. Sotomayor politely told him to fuck off, is how I took it.

Overall, I would guess that Specter is pissed about being the 2nd most junior questioner, and is showing off.

12. Specter was trying to pin her on if she agreed with the SC decision to
not hear the case on illegal wiretapping. She wouldn't answer as to if she agreed or not. Said that she hadn't read what the supreme's decided it on. Specter got frustrated, he wanted that case heard.

9. Specter seems rude, re: a letter he sent to her and she is not giving him the answer he wants.
The subject seems to be separation of powers and how she would rule (another how would you rule question).

14. Not how she would rule, but whether the court should have taken the case or not
Sotomayor is being very careful how she answers. She doesn't want to commit either way, saying that she hadn't seen what the court had seen.

50. That was terrific -- great to see Franken -- and he mentioned abortion which was great -- !!!
Edited on Wed Jul-15-09 03:40 PM by defendandprotect
Only as long as the Repugs can make the nation feel somehow ashamed and guilty

about abortion -- and make Dems reluctant to discuss it -- can the GOP succeed.

Why should anyone be ashamed of providing women with self-defense when a fetus

is destroying her health and life?

Why should anyone be ashamed of elective abortion? Each woman decides that question

for herself and many, many millions of women have decided on abortion.

Including "pro-lifers" when their daughters or they have pregnancies they don't want

to go forward.

AND JUST WANT TO ADD THAT I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THERE HAD ALREADY BEEN SUCH SLOWING DOWN
OF THE INFO ON THE INTERNET. HOPE FRANKEN CONTINUES TO SPEAK TO THAT ISSUE!!!

We paid for it and now corporations are controlling it!

58. Well, around the time Wm. Buckley died we found out CIA had been
financing right wing Senators/Reps -- only got two names --
Rep. Gerald Ford and Sen. Strom Thurmond.

CIA would take any right wing money to pass on -- whether KKK or whatever.

Pat Buchanan also has been financed --
Believe Jesse Helms was another --

So -- political violence, assassinations, stolen elections -- yeah . . that's how
people like this come to power --

and pre-bribed by corporate money -- from insurance, health care providers to MIC
corporations.
