From the editorial board of Jeff Sessions' hometown paper... |
|
...the Mobile Press-Register:
PARDON US while we respond with a little sarcasm to the latest shocking — and we do mean shocking — revelations about the nefarious activities of the Bush administration.
Unnamed Democratic Party sources named Nancy Pelosi told reporters that "Bushitler" actually authorized the CIA to capture or kill (shudder) top al-Qaida leaders. There was even a secret CIA plan to do the terrible deed. And, wouldn't you know it, Darth Cheney himself may have tried to keep Congress in the dark about these sinister discussions.
Of course, Speaker Pelosi, like the character in the old "Hogan's Heroes" show, knew nothing! She's said it many times: Despite all those CIA briefings on the Bush administration's use of thumb screws and other medieval torture devices on the innocent-until-proven guilty terrorists, she didn't have a clue anything was going on — at least not until 2003. She didn't say anything then, either, but everybody should have known that she disapproves of enhanced in terrogation — unless members of Congress decide to use it on Genghis Cheney.
Anyway, the deputy fuehrer must have been involved in what The New York Times called "radical countermeasures" in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. They were talking about capturing or killing the people who plotted the most devastating foreign attack ever carried out on American soil. Man, those neo-cons were really radical!
Even though all they did was talk about killing al-Qaida leaders. According to news reports, the godfather and Bushitler didn't support the covert operations. The evil Cheney must have been too busy torturing Muslim freedom fighters to give the hit squads their orders.
Still, the latest shocking revelations will provide another count in the war crimes' indictment against the neo-con regime. Even better, they will supply Speaker Pelosi with a new explanation for her professed ignorance of the post-9/11 CIA briefings: It's Dick Cheney's fault!
--- That's what passes for journalism in the Old South.

1. Sounds like the writer has been trolling around DU with some of the terms they used. |

2. What it sounds like... |
|
...is not a column from an editorial board of trained journalists but a post on a Web board of right wing hysterics.

3. Pelosi wasn't even Speaker until 2006 |
|
so, what is it with all this in 2001-2003 and what she should have known or been told? Was she one of the 8 that normally got briefed? The way the repuges did everything back then was to meet with just the other repuges and omit the Dems from all they could..so they probably only briefed 4 of the 8 anyway...

7. Oh, they think they deserve the contract simply because... |
|
...they "are Mobile." They were ready to blame the left for the snafus in the previous process and have pilloried every aspect of Seattle in their reaction. Kind of funny when you compare literacy rates, education and every aspect of standard of living between Mobile (a town constantly trying to return to the days of King Cotton) and Seattle (one of the most livable and progressive cities in the nation).

and still can't figure out what his point is, if he has one at all. It just reads like the mindless blatherings of a partisan hack.

6. DING! DING! DING! And we have a winner!... |

...But if you want to hear something even more incredulous, the "alternative" paper in that town considers the daily to be "too liberal" and has an even harder right wing slant. Of course, it's run by a former Trent Lott staffer who wrote things for the segregation-sympathizing senator that ended up in Conservative Citizens Council literature.
Hard to believe our president's new Surgeon General nominee hails from just south of that cesspool.
