Huckabee warns Palin: Don't leave GOP
Edited on Wed Jul-15-09 04:27 PM by Peacetrain
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/(CNN) —

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has a warning for Sarah Palin: Don't abandon the Republican Party.

The former presidential candidate and potential future White House rival of Palin's said Tuesday he's concerned about speculation the Alaska governor may leave the GOP to become an independent.

"I hope she remains — let me be real clear — a part of the Republican Party," Huckabee told FOX News. "I'm a little concerned when I hear her say that she may sort of branch out and go third party or go independent. That would be a big mistake because we need to rebuild the Republican Party, not abandon it."

EDIT to ADD

16. Huckabee is the Far More Dangerous One
They are both nuts, but Huckabee is too damn good at selling his particular brand of nuts.

9. This is the real issue facing repugs today
Their reliance on the radical fringe racist elements that Palin appeals to is about to bite them in the ass.
The only way they were able to get the freak vote was to pretend to have interest in their causes.
Palin pulls no punches and declares herself a full blown wackadoodle.
There actually are two heads to the repug party. One the undereducated, born and breed "conservative". The other the hateful, narrow minded, uneducated neanderthals.
Lets sit back and enjoy the popcorn!

13. No, that's pure panic
If she goes Indy she rips out a chunk of the base - Huckleberry's biggest chunk I might add.

A party that is already mostly an afterthought becomes two half afterthoughts. And Huck is hung out to dry with no constituency left.

14. His 2012 chances are dead in the water if she goes third party. The mainstream
R's might take a shine to him and he could draw enough of the far right to get elected if she doesn't start a RW wacko party.

Edited on Wed Jul-15-09 07:18 PM by juno jones
They are both linked to the dominionist movement. The dominionists have worked hard to get the reins of a mainstream party like the 'pubs. If Sarah goes third party, she will peel off a good number of the whackjobs and marginalize their cause for another few generations. Huckabee will certainly be screwn.

Of course I'm all for it.
