Iran Plane Black Boxes 'Damaged'
Source: BBC

Damaged black boxes have been recovered from a Caspian Airlines plane that crashed in north Iran with the loss of all 168 people on board, say officials.

Investigators who scoured scattered body parts and metal fragments for the data recorders hope they will salvage a clue as to the cause of the crash.

The wreckage was spread over a large area of farmland in Qazvin province, 120km (75 miles) north-west of Tehran.

The Tupolev plane was flying from the Iranian capital to Yerevan in Armenia.

Witnesses said the 22-year-old Russian-made aircraft, which had 153 passengers and 15 crew, nose-dived from the sky with its tail on fire.

Flight 7908 crashed 16 minutes after take-off from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran, officials said.

1. I wonder how many of the passengers were leaders of the
election protest movement.

Just wondering.

2. Doubtful. Most were Armenians returning home after vacationing
the Persians were the youth judo team.

This is sad and they are connecting the dots between an old and poorly maintained Russian plane and the sanctions against the hard line government.

This is why there is such broad support now for liberalizing the government. The hard line religious government has cost them too much.

3. Interesting.....
When the Air France Airbus A330 Brazil to Paris flight "broke apart in flight" (or not~b/c we don't have many facts), yet still plunged into the sea killing all aboard....there was a dearth of posts about how "hopefully they died quickly" and such. People posted that sort of thing b/c they were empathazing with the people on board that flight. (i.e., "What would it be like if that were *me* onboard that flight") and if they had to die, they hoped it was quick and relatively painless mentally/physically....

When I read that (from the article cited in the OP): Witnesses said the 22-year-old Russian-made aircraft, which had 153 passengers and 15 crew, nose-dived from the sky with its tail on fire.

The PEOPLE on board had to be absolutely TERRIFIED, yet there is no empathy/connection that that might as well have been *you*/*me* on board. Is that b/c people from Iran (and the Middle East) and we don't identify with 'those people' on the came level as the unfortunate folks on the doomed Brazil to Paris flight? .....
