Saw the end of Hardball tonite. Buchanan waves his racism around
like a hero's medal. I mean he is truly proud of his racism.
Even the normally unflappable Eugene Robinson got a little - well - flapped.
I am guessing Pat wanted any child or young adult who was aided by affirmative action to fail miserably so he could revel in their failure.
When he's hauled in to the ER someday, I wonder if he will question whether the doctor was and affirmative action recipient?
Or will he have instructions to take him to the white hospitals?

1. I caught that too, waiting for Keith to come on
Wanting to know what her SAT and LSAT scores were because standardized tests taken at least 30 years ago mean ever so much more than her record as a lawyer and a judge.

I think it's time Pat was put out to pasture. Though, given he isn't smart enough to keep his mouth shut he does highlight what a bunch of racists and sexists the Republicans are.

8. Is she gonna speak truth to power and call him the racist jerk
that he is? (She SHOULD call him a racist asshole but I don't think she can say that on TV.)

We sit here all day long and point out what racist fucks these idiots are, but Matthews never does. Olbermann never does. It's freakin' time someone said in a very loud firm voice --

OKAY, PAT, THAT'S ENOUGH. YOU ARE BEING A RACIST PIG AND THAT WENT OUT WITH LESTER MADDOX AND STROM THURMOND. SHUT UP, GET OFF THE SHOW, PICK UP YOUR FINAL PAY CHECK AND DO NOT DARKEN OUR DOOR AGAIN. YOUR VIEWS ARE NOT ONLY NOT THOSE OF THE MANAGEMENT OF MSNBC BUT THEY ARE NOT THE VIEWS OF INTELLIGENT AMERICANS IN 2009. YOUR DAY IS OVER, PAT. GO HOME.

But it'll never happen.

Stupid fuck.

11. When she said he'd be on her show, she said,
"He's known as 'Uncle Pat' around here," or something like that. Hopefully, she'll call him on his bs!

:)

3. He really went around the bend today -
I watched that twice, because I couldn't really believe it. He hates Sotomayor, and will say anything - not matter how insane he sounds - to try to diminish her. A "militant liberal"? What the fuck does THAT mean?

It's time for Uncle Pat to retire. I won't watch any show that has him on it, not after what he said today...............

4. I watched it twice... and the second time around I realized something profound

To me, every argument he was making sounded like proof that affirmative action works as intended.

For example

Sotomayor had to read children's books to improve her english to a point where she could understand the lessons in school better. Isn't that exactly what affirmative action is supposed to compensate for? All the other people in her class knew english well enough to not struggle with it in class. Taking that into account and helping her get into a good collage paid off for all of us. She has proven herself to be a brilliant person and a fantastic judge. We will now have a fantastic Supreme Court Justice, thanks to affirmative actions policies.

I didn't catch it the first time because of the instinctive repulsion I felt, but once I turned on KO's show a few minutes early and listened to that crap from the kitchen (while making dinner) my gut reaction was suppressed enough for me to wrap my mind around it.

All I have to say is Thank You Affirmative Action !!! Because of you we have more to choose from than the vanilla judges like Roberts for our highest court.

(and just for the record, I am a white male)

5. Buchanan is a peculiar racist artifact of our culture.
There are very few today who would assert that racism is the default setting of any particular person's outlook--but he assumes that "pro-Hispanic" is Sotomayor's default, and more distressingly, thinks that "pro-white" and therefore, "anti-other" is the white default. He is staggeringly unaware of how race-baiting genuinely turns off white people who know better than his narrow ethnocentric nonsense. It's astonishing that any person who so utterly represents for racism should be a regular feature on cable news-programs. He would be more appropriately displayed in a museum of Fail.

7. This is a man described by Hunter S. Thompson as a crazy Daniel
Boone running around manning the parapets of Nixon's Alamo. Sounds about right to me.

9. He's just mad because the white male affirmative action program
has petered out after only 200 years.

Rachel's going after him. He's going to be one her show tomorrow night. Should be interesting.

10. I stopped watching Pat Buchanan so many years ago that I can't remember when it was
And I hate his sister too. She and Mary Matalin are two peas in a pod, even down to the wicked witch sneer.
