Was it "accidental" that Sen. Whitehouse mentioned Linda Chavez works for FOX NEWS?
Even the Republicans on the Committee were circumspect in voicing their concerns and the Ricci supporters were able to bring up constitutional issues worth discussing; Ms. Chavez appears to going straight for the Jugular.

4. Chavez is the first and ONLY speaker to explicitly say Sotomayor should not be appointed...
..using all the buzzwords the Republican base loves. Brought in as a witness by the Republican's on the minority. Senator Whitehouse was chairing the meeting at the time and seemed to want to lower her profile before she spoke.

2. I caughter her parking in the handicapped spot at the GIANT on Arlington Rd., Bethesda once.
Shook my finger at her. Boy, was she pissed!

Jeane Kirkpatrick parked in the general lot like the rest of us, but not Chavez.

6. Linda Chavez who is an analyst with fox news
Edited on Thu Jul-16-09 03:12 PM by cal04
Linda Chavez, chair of the Center for Equal Opportunity and a contributor to Fox News as an analyst, who opened her testimony by saying, "I testify today not as a wise Latina woman..." and urged Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) directly not to vote for Sotomayor).
http://politics.theatlantic.com/2009/07/ricci_citizens_as.php

here's some info on her
Linda Chavez (born June 17, 1947 in Albuquerque, New Mexico) is an American conservative author, commentator, and radio talk show host. She is also a Fox News analyst, Chairman of the Center for Equal Opportunity, has a syndicated column that appears in newspapers nationwide each week, and sits on the Board of Directors of two Fortune 1000 companies: Pilgrims Pride and ABM Industries Inc. Chavez was the highest-ranking woman in President Bush's White House, and was the first Latina ever nominated to the United States Cabinet.

comment from dkos
Linda Chavez Is Still Seeking Revenge Ever Since
she was dumped as a potential cabinet member in the Reagan Administration after she was found to hire slave labor and then not pay taxes.

She is a disgrace to America.

11. That she used the popular, but incorrect, redundancy of "Latina woman" is enough to
turn me off at the phrase. Since I know her history it just pisses me off even more.

and she was very unwise to open herself to be "dumped".

I didn't start paying attention to politics until 2000.

9. Linda Chavez is a LONG TIME Republican operative. She ran for US Senate-MD against Mikulski in 1986
and lost. Then I think she moved to California or something. But she is a repig, and a homophobic one at that.

25. That is the truth.
For people who don't remember, Bush wanted her for Sec. of Labor but they caught her with an undocumented alien woman working as a domestic for her. She's just another Latina elitist who survives exploiting the underclasses. She then tried to lie her way out of it saying the woman was a guest in her house who occasionally did laundry and washed dishes.

23. There Chavez was refreshingly honest and forthright, as Fox News people go.
She attacked Sotomayor in the open rather than snipe at her from behind "fair and balanced" cover.
