American Citizens..Our."Social Behavior" is what's wrong with our Health Care System!
Edited on Thu Jul-16-09 08:44 PM by KoKo
We have a horrible lifestyle. We smoke and drink and eat at Micky D's and "Morning Joe" and the Repugs want us to PAY FOR OUR SINS! We should be "DENIED HEALTH CARE"

Heard on GE/MSNBC's "Morning Joe" this morning. (Just remember that GE got BIG TIME TARP MONEY! Now they BLAME US FOR GETTING SICK!) Just remember...Repugs want to "Curb our Social Behavior."

-------
What I heard this Morning on MSNBC's "Morning Joe"
-------

The Repug "Morning Joe" Talking Point. "Heath Care is about curbing social behavior."

Edited on Thu Jul-16-09 07:54 AM by KoKo
Said by Mika who along with Maria Barteromo and the rest of the crew were saying that Obama isn't doing anything to prevent disease. And Mika says the whole debate should be about "curbing social behavior."

Fascist talk. Amazing the concerted push back by idealogues about whether the rich are entitled to health care for their "social behavior" failings, but the rest of us should not because our lifestyles of "over eating, smoking and whatever" caused whatever disease we might have and it's just our bad luck that our bad behavior made us sick. :eyes:

4. A rueful laugh...what you say....
The stress ....! But, look at the ads they run for Big Pharma. Big Pharma will solve all that stress they've caused us. One would almost think it was a huge plan...but then that would be a :tinfoilhat: thingy.

:sarcasm:

17. Wanna hear something really disgusting? Many years ago, a friend was still living
in the "old country".....what was then Czechoslovakia.

He had surgery for a rather bad stomach ulcer.

After spending plenty of time in the hospital to recover from the surgery (they didn't rush him out before he could function!), he was sent to a recuperation facility in the mountains, with beautiful scenery, nice trails to get outside and walk, nice arts and crafts rooms and reading rooms, etc.

In other words, rather than stressing out over bills and stuff, he was given a great opportunity for his body to relax and HEAL.

What a concept.

But.....we have only ourselves to blame, because we don't stand up on our hind legs and DEMAND what we need!

3. Only the RICH are entitled to Great Health Care...Face Lifts/Liposuction/Dental Care
with beautiful crowns that look like their own teeth, bodies younger than their age and abortions and adoptions they pay for because they have the money. They can afford to eat ORGANIC ....fly in the finest bottled water from purest sources...afford all kinds of "environmental filters" to keep them healthy as they sport their bodies in our Media.

But...the rest of us are just fat, ugly and not worth their time.

Crude...but that's what I heard this morning and it made me close to vomit that we should have to watch crap like that on our airwaves and by folks we gave TARP TAX DOLLARS TO!

11. I see it all around these days. Walking like Zombies, in a daze...
and it's at the check out counters, and amongst us purchasers... We are Zombies...doing what we have to do to survive...finding what we can in mindless entertainment and trying to raise the kids and do what we can to get through it all.

This is a very sick America. We never thought we'd see this...those of us over 40.

6. life, liberty, etc..
Life requires health care. Liberty does not "curb" social behavior.

Perhaps they might want to shape "social behavior" by regulating food ingredients and preparation, and by regulating advertisement of food to stick to simple facts, including ingredients, nutritional and long-term health information.

If smoking needs to be curbed, perhaps tobacco shouldn't be grown or advertised.

Of course, we've already tried prohibition, lol.

They don't want to curb anything that might cut into profit margins, regardless of how it affects the national health.

Buy it, eat it, smoke it, drink it, shut up, and die early so the next generation can start spending. We aren't running out of people to consume things yet.

Heaven forbid that we educate people and then allow them to make their own choices.

Or that health care be recognized as a right in order to have "life."

they make the money for the entertainment industry that now sponsors our News...what filtered crap we get that we think is news.

13. a healthy society has a healthy health system
somehow communities have to be empowered regarding health.

I do think county governments should take the lead and process the health system in communities. Maybe homeowners' associations and community organisations could add health to their lists of priorities. I would love to see a devolved power in health. A strong primary care and preventative health progrtam. This can be highlighted by state governments too.

States could try making their own health care systems?

14. How long do you think that would take, though? Our situation is Immediate
and hoping for States, Communities and Homeowners Associations to tackle something that's been out there for years is kind of like waiting forever for something from grassroots that we know from experience always get's subverted.

16. I am amazed that ordinary people that they don't complain about the health system abuse
People don't scream and shout about health care abuse. The HMO that we had with my husband's employment wouldn't cover his radiation therapy for his cancer. We had to basically get them by the throat and threaten them with crowds of protestors, headline news, lighted torches. In the end they came up with 'oh if you can prove that this is the only procedure that is available then we will fund it?' How many people just give up at the beginning ending up with debts of $100,000 or more for cancer treatment?

18. States do try.
My state has a decent system, and it covers many uninsured people. That system saved my grandson's life when he needed open heart surgery.

There's just never enough money to cover ALL. We can afford to cover everyone when we take the profit out and go to single-payer.

The problem with state systems is that they are not universal. Some states have them, some don't. Some serve more people, some less. We need a system that guarantees anyone in the nation the care they need no matter where they live or where they are when they need the care.

21. By far the worst social behavior is an industry having nothing to do with health care and yet
profiting from the American People's illness and injury. They are literally killing the people for money and driving up the cost of health care for everyone.

Stress is a major cause of illness and if we had universal single payer coverage; for every American, I believe emotional, psychological and financial stress would be greatly reduced.

I also believe as a result; should we get single payer universal health-care, the people will have more money and thus will be able to eat more nutritious food, and be less likely to smoke or drink in order to alleviate stress.

Thanks for the thread, Koko.
