Uh oh! New fodder for the Moon Landing Tinfoil Hatters...
NASA lost moon footage, but Hollywood restores it

WASHINGTON – NASA could put a man on the moon but didn't have the sense to keep the original video of the live TV transmission.
In an embarrassing acknowledgment, the space agency said Thursday that it must have erased the Apollo 11 moon footage years ago so that it could reuse the videotape.
But now Hollywood is coming to the rescue.
T
he studio wizards who restored "Casablanca" are digitally sharpening and cleaning up the ghostly, grainy footage of the moon landing, making it even better than what TV viewers saw on July 20, 1969. They are doing it by working from four copies that NASA scrounged from around the world.

"There's nothing being created; there's nothing being manufactured," said NASA senior engineer Dick Nafzger, who is in charge of the project. "You can now see the detail that's coming out."

1. George Lucas isn't involved, is he?
We're not going to see Jabba the Hutt jump out of a moon crater to greet Neil Armstrong, right?

6. Well, that would explain why we stopped going to the moon
The RastaFrog colony annoyed the Hell out of the astronauts.

2. You can see the reflections in the astronauts' helmet visors now!
How long before some photoshopping smartass puts some amusing stuff in those visors?

5. Neil Armstrong was climbing down the ladder and I could not figure out
Edited on Thu Jul-16-09 09:45 PM by Gman
what I was watching. I finally complained that I couldn't see him and my girlfriend's dad got up and pointed to Armstrong on the screen. I still don't really think I saw Armstrong take that famous step. The picture was so bad, I couldn't see a damn thing going on.

It seems unreal that that was 40 years ago now.

7. It seems unreal that shuttle video showing UFO's is just as grainy as well.
There is quite a bit out there. Search on "Shuttle Tether". The objects floating around are described as "Debris" but they don't explain why they pass _Behind" the tether satelite which is 100 nautical miles away.

Fantastic quality of video huh? I'm so impressed.
