Edited on Thu Jul-16-09 11:53 PM by Gabi Hayes
disguised as anti-tax measures (sugary drinks, etc.), among other things,

these ads clearly are the successors to those rolled out during the Hillary-care days, and will probably become as ubiquitous as campaign ads during the height of election season

I wonder who's keeping track of these, how much is being spent, and under whose provenance these ads are being produced

anyone else notice the sudden blossoming of these ads?

haven't seen any discussion yet, but this has only been very recently

think your health care premiums are footing the bill for a lot of these?

EDIT: here's a site that has some specifics, regarding who's behind this

http://thejoshuablogs.blogspot.com/2009/07/health-care-reform-public-option-enemy.html

notice that what I googled is almost all blogs:

4. Not me, but we really have to make a distinction between a not for profit,
single-payer system and the public option.

There is a world of difference.

Funny thing is, they are fighting a single-payer, not for profit system when it was never really allowed in the discussions from the beginning.

5. agreed, but can we also agree that the thrust of all these ads is to keep the status quo in force?
I want to know how much is being spent on these ads, and who's spending it, as well as how much of it's coming out of my health care dollar

7. I remember when
we used to have a press that was interested in these things too.

On TV even.

9. KO, Ed, Rachel, I hope, will start concentrating on this, but I think
the massive overload of concentrated interest money will doom this latest health care measure to the same fate it suffered fifteen years ago.

big money has always ruled this 'democracy' and I don't see anything changing in the forseeable future....indeed, it's only getting worse

just axe Sachs

11. oh, yeah...CNN/MSNBC is where I saw most of the ads, so I'll be surprised if
the ad provenance gets much coverage from the aforementioned

16. Yes we can and I agree that some of these ads are being financed
by our HC dollars.

10. do you need the 'with'?
I can't complain about my coverage, ironically, cause it's from a school district, and I have a great chiropractor who doesn't charge the copay, which gets me past the out of pocket expense, keeping my yearly costs under a thousand bucks a year (not counting drug copay). I will be keeping my job til I hit 90, or croak, whichever comes first

13. how much you paying for that? isn't it ridiculously expensive?
the one negative of my deal is that I can't ever move or change jobs, cause I'll never be able to get insurance again

I lucked out by finding out I have a genetic clotting mutation after being on the job for many years. they can't get rid of me, because I have a strong UNION!

so I'm doubly lucky that way, even though I cost them out the ass (more than my salary every year lately in payouts)

14. I'm still on the subsidy that was part of the stimulus package
So I am living proof that the stimulus is helping people as it's saving me $500/month.

17. Government pays 65% of Cobra for 9 months
So it's almost the same as what my company was paying and I pay almost the same as when I worked. Cobra gives you the same coverage you had with the company except you have to pay 100% versus 25-40% if the company was paying the rest.

20. remember Rick Scott, whose company paid the largest fine ever
levied for medicare/medicaid fraud: 1.7 BILLION bucks

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNODPMAGiE4&feature=related

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/05/29/video-report-who-is-rick-scott-and-what-type-of-health-care-system-is-he-advocating/

remember the Coalition for Health Insurance Choices?

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Harry_and_Louise_ads_defeat_health_care_reform

that's the model for what Rick Scott, corporate felon, and all the rest of the kleptocaremongers have in store

they'll spend billions this time, if they have to, because they're really scared.
