I'm hoping the Birfers get louder as we get closer to Obama being re-elected :evilgrin:

‘Birther’ Movement Dogs Republicans

Ten Members of Congress Sign on to Presidential Birth Certificate Bill

By David Weigel 7/17/09 6:00 AM

Kris Kobach is a law professor with degrees from Harvard, Yale and Oxford, and a veteran of George W. Bush’s administration who, after Sept. 11, helped craft the policy on domestic registration of foreign visitors to the United States. In May, he announced a run for Kansas secretary of state, campaigning for photo ID requirements at the voting booth. He’s considered a clear front-runner for the job. But over the weekend, Kobach spoke at a Republican Party barbecue and committed a minor gaffe. According to the Lawrence Journal-World, Kobach “asked what President Obama and God had in common, with the punchline being neither has a birth certificate.”

<snip>

Six months into Obama’s presidency, after scores of embarrassing legal defeats, and even after tussles between the attoneys who’ve turned frivolous lawsuits about the president’s citizenship into full-time jobs, the cottage industry of conspiracy theories about the president’s birth shows no signs of disappearing. The theories have found a home in talk radio and on conservative web sites such as Free Republic and WorldNetDaily. Conspiracy theorists are increasingly sending letters to their local papers, embarrassing members of Congress at town hall meetings, and hounding Hill staffers about challenges to the president’s citizenship.

<snip>

There’s no indication that the White House is worried about all of this. White House press secretary Robert Gibbs has occasionally called on Lester Kinsolving, a radio host and correspondent for WorldNetDaily, to air the latest theories about the president’s citizenship as a way of defusing tense press briefings. While “birthers” claim that the president’s lawyers have spent “hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars” fighting their lawsuits, they’ve never provided evidence for that claim. Indeed, most of the suits have been tossed out of court on technicalities.

<snip>

Okubo, who said that she gets weekly questions from Obama ‘Birthers’ that are “more like threats,” explained that the certificate of live birth reproduced by Obama’s campaign should have debunked the conspiracy theories. “If you were born in Bali, for example,” Okubo explained, “you could get a certificate from the state of Hawaii saying you were in Bali. You could not get a certificate saying you were born in Honolulu. The state has to verify a fact like that for it to appear on the certificate. But it’s become very clear that it doesn’t matter what I say. The people who are questioning this bring up all these implausible scenarios. What if the physician lied? What if the state lied? It’s just become an urban legend at this point.”

<snip>

I highly recommend you read the full article. Loads of fun for everyone.

I LOVE the Birfers. I believe they'll be entertaining for another seven years.

:rofl:

who is refusing service because of his "Obama wasn't born here" claim.

he uncorked the bottle and turned Palin and her equally inept and insane legions out into the world. And they thought he was the safe choice.

15. Hey, they have to have something to fall back on now that
even the most die-hard freepers are sick of hearing about how the Clintons murdered Vince Foster. They have to have SOME kind of an outlet for their complete nutballery.

7. Hannity idiocy at the end of the article:
“Major Cook and his lawyer expressed joy at this outcome,” said Hannity. “And they took it as an admission on the part of the military that the president is not in fact a legitimate citizen by birth.”

12. Opihi my dear shellfish, what on Earth do the locals back home make of this?
Are they insulted? amused? bemused? don't care?

Even though I was in grade school at the time Hawai'i became a state, I remember the comments going around among the adults: some thought that the Congress was holding up Hawai'ian statehood because of the preponderance of non-haoles in the population, which, given the state of race-relations of certain parts of the Mainland, was kind of insulting.

I tried reading the comments section of an article in the Star-Bulletin a couple of months ago, but it had obviously been infiltrated by rabid Birthers from the Mainland -- one of the drawbacks of the Internet :eyes:

Anyway, just curious....

Hekate

16. Dear Auntie, Most locals, like most peeps everywhere, are concerned about food & housing
Politics, sadly, is furthest from the front burner.

Under Gov Lingle (R) in 8 short years...the blue tent villages on many remote beaches are reachinh levels never seen before..
Tourism down 35 to 45%....econ hurting badly and yet, bracing for worse to come...

Gov Lingle clueless re efforts to stabilize/advance economic conditions....

SAT Scores (State Public Schools)over her 7 year history show hardly any improvements....LOF is blamed...lack of funds...

She is unable to Govern effectively from this opihis pov....7Year Results SUCK....Her Crew Sucks.....They even gutted Anuenue Fisheries, our State run aquatic research Center....the boys had to kill fishes(BroodStock) over 5 years old...prime breeding stage...many years of resource ubder the bus...

I don't think the Pubs will win next year....people have found out the hard way as did many others in Cali Az etc. that the GOP SUCK.

Their IDEAS SUCK

THEIR RECORD SUCK

13. The real problem when you're selling crazy
Is that after a while, crazy becomes banal, so you have to go crazier. I foresee breathless rumors of a non-terrestrial birth for President Obama, complete with "Chariots of the Gods?" style sketches, photos and speculation. This will be hilarious, as long as we keep the guns away from these nuts.

14. That'll take a while
They ahve their fantasy threads over at Rim Jobinson's Freak Repukelick about what will happen if Obama is proven to not be a natural born citizen:

IF Obama is proven not to be a naturally born Citizen... is every bill VOIDED?
My Keyboard ^ | July 17 2000 | Bob Eimiller

IF... Obama is proven not to be a naturally born Citizen... won't every bill he signed or appointment made VOIDED?

I think this is a VERY interesting question. Could the stimulus be recinded? the Sotomayor appointment void? GM and Chrysler takeovers negated? All CZARS dismissed? All spending revoked?

If the man is an illegal president and he purposely ran as a fraud could he be charged with a crime?

Can this drum beat to socialism be derailed?

Ya know, these people would make Charlie Manson sit back and say, "you motherfuckers are WHACK!"
