Is all the carping and whining about "the deficit" having a negative effect
on President Obama and/or the health care reform debate. Are the "tea parties" resonating with the average American? I know that whatever comes out of a Repuke's mouth is immediately suspect until proven otherwise, but is support for health care reform and the stimulus plan eroding because of concerns about costs or are the Republicans whom are darkly intoning about the growing lack of support thereof just talking out of their a**es as usual- helped along, as usual, by the corporate media whores? I don't see quite the same level of opposition to government spending nowadays like I remember from 1993-1994 but I was wondering if other people here share that perception or are seeing something different where they are.

1. Haven't seen as much comment about the deficit as about stimulus effects or lack thereof.

2. The whining about the deficit is a standard and effective RW tactic...
... that they ALWAYS use to try and stop and/or kill any progressive programs. The fact that we already have a large deficit is quite irrelevant to them, because they'd still be making the same argument if the deficit was far smaller. Remember the early '90s, and the stern finger-wagging from the GOP?

3. I remember (unfortunately)
I'm not eager to see a repeat of 1993-1994.
