Gov. Riley (R-AL) Riley recalls Bible study group at 'C Street' house
http://www.al.com/news/huntsvilletimes/local.ssf?/base/news/1247649361234610.xml&coll=1

"They had a Bible study there (C Street building) once a week, and I went to their Bible study for years," Riley said. "I don't remember anything that went on there when we were there."

snip

Riley said the congressmen he specifically remembers attending the Bible studies were Sanford and former Reps. Steve Largent, R-Okla; Jim Ryan, R-Kan.; and Bart Stupak, D-Mich.; and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.

He said "10 or 15 people" attended the Bible studies.

Riley said the house is operated by a "Christian group" that he couldn't readily identify.

"The guys who lived there were guys who didn't mess around," he said. "Steve Largent was as good a guy as I've ever met in my life. Jim Ryan - you couldn't make this guy do anything wrong. (Graham's) the same way.

OK he doesn't know how ran the place he went for years or what they talked about but can remember names and what great Christian family men they were. Funny how the memory works in these people ain't it.

3. Extra curricular activities disguised
as bible study. When they get caught it is amazing how quickly the bible shows up.

4. Heh...
I'm suprised at how little reporting I've seen about "the family". With the exception of its frequent mention by Rachel Maddow, I haven't really heard anything about or from the group. If the C Street house is governed under the Family International I'm even more suprised that they haven't cut ties in light of the C Street group's conduct.

These cats over on C St. are talking about being God's chosen leaders and assuring each other that moral behavior is not required of them as such chosen men. Not to mention the man-to-man financial plan. I'm sure the IRS would love to investigate that plan.

With the affairs, the weirdness, and the overall implosion of a large chunk of the GOP, I really don't know what to expect next.

9. Bob Riley is as crooked and hypocritical as they come...
...He has used his terms in office to set up his family as well as possible, steering business toward his kids, Rob and Mindy, who are attorneys. In fact, his falling out with state attorney general Troy King -- and subsequently throwing King to the wolves -- stemmed from King refusing to take part in a deal that would have put lucre in Rob's pocket. Around the state capitol, Rob and Mindy are known as Uday and Qusay.

Look at Rob's profiteering on the Siegelman case for an example.

10. According to Sharlet's book...

Frank Buchman provided the inspiration for founding the Family and the methods they employ. Buchman once strove to provide counseling to Adolph Hitler, and is credited with stating:

"…Human problems aren't economic. They're moral and they can't be solved by immoral measures. They could be solved within a God-controlled democracy, or perhaps I should say a theocracy, and they could be solved through a God-controlled Fascist dictatorship."

12. My son went to school in Boston, and 12 guys shared a three floor row house
for $1000 a month each. These US Reps get a room on C street for $600, within walking distance of the Capitol?

Then they vote against minimum wage, anything to help the working poor, and yet they're living in a church owned home for next to nothing.

Scum.
