Can any of you help me out with my Senate Call Actions July 22, 2009?
Hello again, everyone. I need your help on my "Call Harry Reid and Max Baucus day on July 22, 2009.

So far, I'm finding out I need to get better at coordinating activities. This is day 3 and haven't gotten much feedback from the board at large on this.

If you would like to suggest thoughts for me, please reply to this or PM me. I am ok with either at this point.

UPDATES: I have emailed contact emails for CBS News, NBC News, ABC News, The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, LA Times, Huffington Post, and Daily Kos.

Not surprisingly, I haven't heard from any of them. Would any of you be willing to write a short letter to the editor mentioning this date as a call action date or otherwise try to get the issue in the paper with your views?

Here is contact information for Max Baucus:

Max Baucus Phone 202-224-2651

Max Baucus Fax 202-224-9412

Here is contact information for Harry Reid:

Harry Reid Phone 202-224-3542

Harry Reid Fax 202-224-7327

Some great resources for you to get info back to Obama team on how your call went as well as other ways to get actively involved in Health Care debate.

Important points about calling these senators' offices that I reworked from the information on the "Organizing for America" website:

----------------------------------------
Be polite, respectful and clear.
Introduce yourself to whoever answers the phone and let them know you are aware of their leadership roles in the health care debate.

Tell them you are calling to say that you strongly support President Obama’s three principles for health care reform in 2009. Congress must pass a plan that reduces costs, guarantees choice – including the choice of a robust public insurance option – and ensures quality care for every American.

Ask if Reid/Baucus also supports these three principles. And ask that they take the lead in fighting entrenched and wealthy interests who wish to see meaningful health care watered down or doomed.

4. me too. It is such a no brainer for people like us out in the real world
only in Washington and talk show circles is this even a discussion as though this is a bad direction to take our country. Well, I may be oversimplifying. But I think if the average person had it adequately explained to them, only an extreme minority would still oppose it.

2. Have you cross posted in the Activist Forum?
Been calling Max. Would like to remind everyone to be courteous to the staffers. It's not their fault their bosses are in bed with corporate interests. And if you are rude to staffers, I have it on good authority, your message won't get to where you want it to be heard. Let them know you feel for them and understand they are probably under a lot of stress....

3. thanks for pointing that out. I tried to include suggestions on calling
about how to be direct and polite. Sounding angry or condescending is not the way to get action.

I will post this in activist forum now that you suggested it. THANKS!

I am holding off on calling Max until July 22! :)

5. wow. busy boards. I guess this isn't an inflammatory enough subject
perhaps I need to bait people with "LATEST NEWS" headlines to get them to wade on in.
