At least we know he lived a great life.
RIP, Walter.
You really were the most trusted voice in America.
And thanks for helping to end my generation's war.

8. 40 years + 1 day since his enthusiastic call of the Apollo 11 launch |
|
He was as excited as a 7 year old when the Saturn V lifted off. I remember that almost as well as the actual landing.
note: IDemo does not mean to offend those whose lunar landing beliefs are not mainstream... :)

9. And he only showed emotion twice on air |
|
1) When he had to announce the death of JFK
2) When man landed on the moon

I guess it's a bit to do with the death of true journalism altogether.
Very sad.

14. He was the essence of dignity and compassion and reserve. |
|
And the best of what a journalist and a human should be. I have always considered him like an uncle or someone close to the family.
A wonderful soul.
Good night kind sir and peace be with you.

15. Mike Malloy opened his show tonight talking about Walter |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-17-09 08:18 PM by Sebastian Doyle
...and how he represented so much more than "just another guy who read the news".
R.I.P. Mr. Cronkite :(
He's taking calls, if anybody wants to talk about Walter (assuming their phones don't crash again)
