Governor elevates Judge Pereyra-Shuminer

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has appointed Miami-Dade County Court Judge Cristina Pereyra-Shuminer to be a circuit judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit in Miami, Pereyra-Shuminer fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Alex E. Ferrer.

Pereyra-Shuminer, 43, of Pinecrest, has been a County Court judge since 1998. Prior to that she was a Miami-Dade County assistant public defender from 1990 to 1998.

Pereyra-Shuminer received a bachelor’s degree from Universidad Anahuac Escuela de Derecho in Mexico and a law degree from the University of Miami.
