Anyone like the 2008 Pontiac G6?
My soon to be laid-off neighbor has just been offered another position with their parent company in Europe. He wants to unload his 2008 Pontiac G6 before leaving. But he needs it till the last minute which makes coordinating a sale a little difficult. I like the guy, want to help him out and I am planning on buying a second car anyway.

I want to ship my new Honda Accord to Canada where I am working, but I go home as often as I can so I still need a car in the US - hence his G6. I understand the G6 is based on the Saab 9-3, which I have driven before and liked.

What would be a fair offer on a 2008 G6 in what appears to be perfect condition?

The most recent model for which I can find any worthwhile price guidance is a 2006.

1. I considered buying one, but I couldn't get a manual transmission.

I like 'em. I'd offer $15K for starters and see if he's willing to bite.

On edit, I'm driving an '07 VW Passat, 6 speed, 2.0T. It's a poor man's Audi A4. Probably can find one an '07 for about $15K, maybe a little more. Will buy mine when it comes off lease.

6. True.....I'll make that point to to the distributor when I negotiate the return.
I got a good deal on the lease because of that...I'm expecting that I can use that to drive a good deal when I buy it outright. Too bad for most Americans, they don't know how much performance they are missing by opting out of manual transmissions.

2. Try kbb.com
for information on the value. They have a valuation for the 2008 models available based on your zip code and how the car is outfitted. I rented one last year and liked it.

5. I recently rented a G6 for a long drive.
I started with a small Toyota and had to turn it back in half way thru the trip and they gave me a Pontiac G6 to drive. I must say, it was ten to one a better car than the Toyota, in my opinion. First of all, it had very comfortable seats, even for big ass people. And it had plenty of power. Also, on the road, you could get 500 miles in before having to stop and fill up. It had plenty of the latest technology and a very good sound system. It also had On Star, which may be a big plus if you need it?

8. For the money, I'd go with a used Audi, but that's just me.
The G6 is a capable car.

9. We have a 2008 Pontiac G6...
...and it has been a very great car for us. Reliable and no major problems.

We get about 20 mpg.

It's a typical no-frills, American-made car. There's nothing sensational about this car. It's kinda vanilla, ok--with no major headaches.

10. Yeah, I got about 28mpg per gallon on the road.
And there is a special model of the G6, sort of like the GT that is much sportier and fun to drive.
