Here's some food for though on the origin of the Universe
Giving credit where credit is due, I learned of this notion first from a YouTube user by the handle of AronRa, I would *highly* recommend perusing his most interesting and thought provoking video library...

http://www.youtube.com/user/AronRa

Anyway, to paraphrase his excellent philosophical point which I heard on one of his videos, here's my question.

If, as science has proven, the stars and planets, moons and planetoids, supernovae and other heavenly bodies out there, amount to far more than each and every grain of sand on every beach in the world;

How is it that the creator "god" chose to make our grain of sand FIRST, and furthermore how is it that he created ALL the rest of it in a blink of an eye, and yet consumed himself with four days of constant spell-casting in order to get *this* particular grain of sand right?

When you stop and think about it, the author had a pretty narrow and egocentric (not to mention highly illogical) view of the cosmos don't you think?

1. He made the heavens first
And may well have spent a lot more time on other planets doing things but the author focused on the one most relevant to him and his readers.

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."

3. Uh huh...
Still doesn't explain how he made "the Heavens" in a heartbeat, but the Earth took four days, does it?

How could some wizard with godlike abilities "conjure up" the heavens, in no time at all, and yet have to spend FOUR DAYS dealing with this little tiny planet.

It's fine to dismiss it, that's entirely up to you. But if you can really look at the universe and say "oh, yeah, that makes sense", I suppose I can't appreciate such an argument (the heavens were just an afterthought?).

4. Not saying I believe it - but he did create earth in a heartbeat as well
Created and modified are two separate actions. Who knows how long he would be working on the rest (and in the NT Jesus talks about preparing a place for his followers implying it would also take time).

13. So the Big Bang theory is just as silly as the concept of a creator?

11. Thinkin just yesterday: what if this whole universe of ours was just
a corpuscle in some out of the way vein of some really big, important critter? Science tells us there are lots of other galaxies out there. They can't rule out other universes too, as we look further out. What if we are just part of some structure like we see when we look at cellular structures?

Maybe we are just a mote in the bloodstream of the mother of all dinosaurs or a big ass virus?

I may need to lay off the Dr. Seuss books when I am running a fever.

12. Here's my question: did God invent math?
Think about that for awhile. Then reconsider everything else that "God" "made".

14. No need once you realized that it all equals zero.
For everything that exists there is a precisely negative counterpart and in the end the entire universe equals zero.
