My morning at the women's clinic with the Operation Rescue nuts - graphic pictures

A friend of mine told me he has been going to this women's clinic to vigil since Dr Tiller was killed so I decided to tag along and check out the anti-choicers.

This is the same clinic Scott Roeder vandalized the day before he drove down to Wichita and murdered Dr Tiller.




It was just a few miles from downtown.




Just as I pulled up, there was a big march of people walking by. They were gone by the time I parked so I didn't get any pictures. They were carrying big signs and one had a picture of the Madonna. My friends told me they were the Catholics and they walk by every Saturday.

But the folks who were standing there did have some interesting signs.

This was the main protester. A few others came and left but he was there the whole time. And he yelled at every woman who went in the clinic. He called the nurses murderers and yelled bible quotes at the patients.




While we were there one of the protesters came over and talked to us. He brought up the bible and I asked if I could ask him a question. He said sure so I said "Where in the bible does it say anything about men getting pregnant?" He said "Why do you want to know that?" I said "Well I am a woman and I don't really think you men should have a say in the choice to carry a baby or have an abortion."

He just glared at me and I was waiting for him to say something about being the father of the baby and I was going to ask him which woman he had yelled at as she entered the clinic was carrying HIS child. But he didn't say anything and just walked away.

So I took pictures of his signs. I am leaving out the most graphic.












The clinic manager came out and talked to us for awhile. He had some neat signs himself.






I noticed these places across the street and was told they are owned by Operation Rescue.

The top one will do a hell of a lot more to convince people of something than the militant picture on the bottom.

Not that some won't get annoyed regardless, but the top picture has rather more thought and intellect put into it. Oh yeah, that's right, thought and intellect are bad things...

I have crisp, new $100 bill that says he is on some sort of "disability". Through the grace of God each day his pain is spared miraculously for a window of time just long enough to unload/set-up/break-down/load all that signage. Blessed be. :puke:

After all, they're in the public square...they shouldn't be hiding in trucks or behind signs. Put their names out there, too.

The cops oughta cite them for leaving those signs unattended. Surely there's an ordinance of some sort they could drag out.

Bottom line for me is I also stand on the street and hold a sign that offends some people. And I don't want anyone defacing my sign. So I won't deface anyone's sign, whether I agree with it or not.

28. I tend to agree with you. I would only be inclined (not saying I would)

to deface signs that have been "abandoned", even if they were coming back for them later. I would do the same for any pamphlets I found that I thought were harassing clinic clients.

I wonder about folks who display "8th week...", "16 weeks...," etc, type posters with photos. Perhaps they should be asked, "Do you believe in child pornography?" Assuming the answer is "no," they should then clarify their belief that "a fetus is a person." According to their tenets, they should answer "yes," at which time they should be reminded that, according to their own beliefs, they are displaying photos of under-aged, naked persons. I wonder what their response would be!
