REIDSVILLE -- A man who couldn't bear to see more than three-dozen cats put down has admitted to breaking into an animal shelter and stealing the felines.
The News and Record of Greensboro says Edward McIrvin decided Monday night, hours before the animals were to be killed, that he would take them. Police Lt. Wendell Neville says McIrvin faces charges of felony breaking and entering and felony larceny.
Neville said McIrvin, 43, of Greensboro, returned the cats in good condition.
From Blog following article:
McIrvin paid the Reidsville Veterinary Hospital a discounted $100 adoption fee for each cat and a week’s worth of board, in the hopes that all the animals will be adopted in that period of time. As of Friday afternoon, two cats had found homes and 35 remained, according to an employee at the vet hospital."
