Palin: "We don't give a damn how they do it outside. We do it a different way up here"
Palin: Alaska tour is thanks, not goodbye

By MATTHEW DALY, Associated Press Writer

Sunday, July 19, 2009

snip...
"I am Alaskan. I've grown up here and I'm going to remain in Alaska," she told The Associated Press in an interview. "It's not farewell, it's more like thanks for letting me be here and I'll see you soon."

snip...
Palin says Alaska voters have accepted her decision to resign, even as she continues to receive criticism from the national media and even some fellow Republicans who question her decision to leave with 18 months left in her four-year term.

"We don't give a damn how they do it outside," she said, quoting a popular state bumper sticker. "We do it a different way up here. The pioneer spirit runs strong."

3. Hahahahaha. "Alaska voters have accepted her decision to resign,"
"We don't give a damn how they do it outside," she said, quoting a popular state bumper sticker. "We do it a different way up here. The pioneer spirit runs strong."

Interpreted: We don't give a damn about finishing up the obligations we have. Up here in Alaska we simply quit whenever we want to!

"If I was her, I'd quit," he said. "Everybody just wants her all the time."

Interpreted: Thank GOD she didn't get elected to VP since people would want her all the time then!

Onward with the Quitter Tour!

15. comments without knowledge
I suppose nothing says these comments have to be based on reality. I've seen posts on 'Right' sites and from "Left" ones. One thing in common is that is looks like an excuse to let loose with mindless hatred masked as innocent quips. If you listened to Gov Palin's statement of reasons for stepping down it had nothing to do with her inability to withstand the media onslaught. She was concerned over the continuing distraction in her state, the immense amount of money spent to defend accusations. By the way, to date none of the character related accusations were substantiated. None! If she'd seen an end to it she would have continued, but without an end she decided to spare her state the time and money it was costing, and spare her family from the continuing attacks by press and others. Before you explode now, just think how you would react. I know I could not hang in there indefinitely with so much animosity directed toward me and my family without fighting back. So, go ahead and post your emotionally charged rants against Palin. Maybe you want to invest a little time researching what you are making public before doing so?

Yep. When the going gets tough, the tough get going
out of town.

There is NOTHING that's been thrown at Palin that any competent politician could not have handled, while still doing his or her job.

Her folding just proves she does not have what it takes.

I live here in Alaska, and all of this talk about "immense amount of money" has been discredited. You have not been paying attention.

19. Is that you, Sarah?
 Most of the charges were generated by her Party and the cost to taxpayers was a fraction of the "millions" that she claimed. In other words, she lied about that. Face it, Sarah's got the bug to be in the political limelight and Alaska just wasn't big enough to handle her ego. Problem for her is while you and the 20% Sarah cultists think she's ready for prime time, most people know better.

But I suspect that her corruption issues are far from over. There's that little matter of the Wasilla sports complex and that big home of hers that was built with materials from the same contractor. Stay tuned!

21. oh my, we have a freeper troll
"none of the character related accusations were substantiated."

Is that why she paid back the "per diem" she charged the Alaskan taxpayers for working at home?

Is that why she paid back the money she charged the Alaskan tax payers for bringing her children on trips?

Is that why she was found guilty of ethics violations in troopergate?

Try doing your own homework. She claims the charges are frivolous. The facts say otherwise.

Oh, and by the way, have a nice visit. Enjoy your stay. Keep it short. Don't let the door hit you on the way out! :hi:

Edited on Sun Jul-19-09 05:36 PM by comrade snarky
I mean why? It's not like she's dangerously incompetent and thought she should be handed the keys to the country.

I'm not gonna bother to educate you on the many ways her character is wanting. From this post I assume you've blinded and deafened yourself with a nice sharp partisan knife. It doesn't exist if you cant see it right?

Enjoy your pizza.

Oh and unlike freerepulic, here you can use the enter key to make a paragraph. Try it if you get the chance.

Edited for another damn typo!

27. Palin is full of baloney
The actual costs of her ethics investigations are $296,000 in a state with an $8.7 billion budget.
http://www.adn.com/palin/story/850854.html

She settled a number of substantiated complaints, including her absurd per diem charges and her kiddies airline tickets.

And as far as "continuing attacks by press", maybe she shouldn't invite the Today Show on her family outings?

FDR withstood the Great Depression and World War II. He was relentlessly attacked by the Republicans.
He never quit!

Since when, btw, is quitting "fighting back"?

Furthermore, are you suggesting that she had NO IDEA that choosing a career in politics would invite ongoing, intense scrutiny? D'ya think she's that stupid?

32. There are AKans like TP, but I wouldn't call her representative at all
The spirit to get things done and be responsible for yourself and your actions, to truly work together and help each other, to not be judgmental, those are more Alaskan qualities, not "quit when the going gets tough and whine about it also".
