You want reform? I'll give you reform! |
|
Rule 1: No entity may own or govern more than one hospital
Rule 2: Insurance companies may not set prices or have contracts with hospitals
Rule 3: All doctors do business on a competitive basis
Rule 4: Any collusion in pricing betwen doctors gets their license pulled permanently
Rule 5: Only the U.S. government can sell physician liability insurance. Prices are set to cover liability up to 1 mil. dollars max
Rule 6: Everyone pays according to total income + net worth
Rule 7: All patents on pharmaceutical products are revoked and meds are priced according to market demand
Rule 8: The U.S. gov't establishes funded research facilities and is the sole owner of all rights to products that must be priced according to their actual cost to produce.
Rule 9: Any physician convicted of fraud or malicious behavior gets lilcense pulled permanently
Rule 10: Government employees pay the same as everyone else.
See how easy that was? Please send my Nobel Prize to: Uben Scrude, 101 Easy Street, Ubenville, Texas

1. The goals you wish to achieve with those programs are different then the profit motive goals. |
|
Which may be the whole point.
But I agree, it is not as complicated as people think it is, and it is what people think is important.

3. In order to get true reform....... |
|
....we must send our representatives to reform school! However, the way they act, one might assume they have all been there already!

5. RE: Rule 1. How do you handle all the clinics and other 'outpost' facilitiesthat big hospitals have? |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-19-09 05:32 PM by Gidney N Cloyd
For instance, in the Chicago burbs we have Advocate Lutheran General with a main hospital building but you can't swing a dead cat without hitting an Advocate clinic, rehab center, doctors' office building, physical therapy , cancer specialty, geriatric specialty, immediate care, etc. Ditto for Alexian Brothers Hospital. I guess maybe I'm asking, what defines a 'hospital' these days?
PS: Your ideas in general have a lot of merit.
