Mitch McConnell - "[T]he U.S. has the best health care in the world." Obama's Proposal Is Radical
Sen. Mitch McConnell also says that Democrats ignore what's right with the U.S. system, and that President Obama reform efforts would be the same as government takeover — and that would lead to worse care. So, there you have it. The GOP, the party of "NO," is forcefully advocating for the status quo backed by legions of grass roots followers in tea bags carrying contraditory signs claiming that President Obama is a socialist, facist who was born in Africa. Indeed, with Fox multiplier, ten people on a steet corner wearing tea bags and carrying socialism signs can have a great impact than thousands of pro-healthcare reform advocates marching on the capitol due to the media savy of such demostrators who easily manage to get television coverage for such poorly attended events.

###

The CBO's assessment has given ammunition to Republican critics of the legislation. Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Sen. Judd Gregg (R., N.H.) said of Mr. Elmendorf's testimony: "Those were pretty damning words."

"They should make us step back and pause and look at ways to make this better," Mr. Gregg said.

Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.), the Republican leader in the Senate, said on NBC's "Meet The Press" that the U.S. has the best health care in the world and that Mr. Obama's proposals would make it worse. "Democrats are having trouble selling this to their own members because it's a flawed approach," he said.

1. We sure do!
Could some of us have access to it without sacrificing our economic well-being?

2. The U.S. is the most medicated country in the world... and
consequently most likely has the highest healthcare costs. To use the term overmedicated regarding our system doesn't scratch the surface.

these clowns to have to disclose how much they pay for their insurance and what their copays are etc everytime they open their mouths about healthcare!! I am so sick of people who apparently have no stake in what happens trying to make sure that we get the damned shaft.

16. Who Knew That It Was Unpatriotic To Improve Healthcare?
Maybe this is the new talking point:

"The U.S. has the best healthcare of in the world. If you think it must be improved, then you must hate America."

Coming to the next Sean Hannity show!

5. Best health care - how duplictious. Of course it is the best ... technically.. BUT NOT FINANCIALLY.
Take off your idiot hat McConnell. We are not idiots. We can see through the machination of your words - your Republican tactic.

9. um if we have the best health care in the world
then congresscritters should f ing share the selfish greedy bastards.

I am on medicaid and medicare. it keeps me in poverty, some times I have had opportunity to make a few dollars, but that would throw me off. No way can I pay for my meds and care out of my measly 853$ a months, not when meds are close to 3000$ per month and my drs visits are 1200$ a pop then there are the labs which run nearly 2400$ a go Dr and labs are usually every 3 months. I am disabled, and cannot work a regular job even part time, but from time to time I could earn a bit, but it would be just enough to throw me off.

We need universal or single pay whatever.
I saw an ad on tv earlier "I am Canadian and I would have died from brain cancer if I had to stay in Canada and wait 6 months for them to see me"
Sponsored by lying People for something or another (sounded like an insurance group) I missed the last part as that was just when the power went blip.

So many folks would try their entrepreneurial ideas if they were able to. Instead of having to stay in a sucking wind job just because it has insurance.

The Massachussetts plan to make everyone buy insurance whether they can afford it or not will just send more to the profit grubbing companies and then to the streets because they cannot afford to eat, pay rent and huge insurance.
My partner has so called insurance from Blue Cross Blue Shield it amounts to a 10% discount on medical he has several health issues that take a chunk of his pay every month.
I don't see how a family with kids gets along. We are hand to mouth and I am glad we don't have kids to try to feed, clothe, shelter, school supplies, and medical.
We are barely making it as is.

19. Well, McConnell Should At Least Update His Talking Points and Not Copy George W. Bush
As noted in this thread, McConnell should at least give proper attribution to George W. Bush.

14. Best for who?
It's not best for the people who can't afford it.

It's not best for the people who can't get insurance because of a pre-existing condition.

It's not best for the people who have it, but can't see the doctor of their choice or go to the hospital of their choice because those providers are not in their insurance plan.

It's not best for the people who have it, but can't get the medications or tests their doctor recommends because the insurance company refuses to pay for them.

It's not best for the people who have it, but still put off going to the doctor because they can't afford the out-of-pocket expenses like high co-pays and deductibles.

It's not best for the people who have it, but still end up filing bankruptcy because of medical bills.

So ... who exactly is it best for?
