Regarding the U.S. military identifying the soldier captured in Afghanistan.
Edited on Sun Jul-19-09 10:43 PM by Lint Head
A political pundit said that the video of the U.S. soldier captured in Afghanistan was painful to watch. It's painful that he was captured and is away from his family. The video shows him sitting and eating and apparently wearing comfortable clothes. The videos and photos of our military torturing people from other countries is painful. If this soldier is water boarded or tortured it's because Dick Cheney and George Bush said it is OK to torture.

"Captain Jon Stock, a U.S. military spokesman, called the use of the video as propaganda “against international law,” Reuters reported. Some of the video is available on Google Inc.’s YouTube Web site."

What is against international law is what we did to innocent human beings at Gitmo and Abu Abu Ghraib and lying about a reason to bomb Iraq back to the stone age.

1. The US is the world leader when it comes to righteous indignation
hypocrisy, and jingoism. The media, pundits & "government officials" outdo themselves when one of these things happen.

2. There has also been almost no end to the torture of the prisoners we held . . .
plus we've killed 1.3 million Iraqi citizens -- '

and we're expanding the war in Afghanist under OBAMA .... why????

3. From what was visible, he appeared in decent health.
But they could also be showing us what they want us to see, and they could want us to believe he is being treated humanely. So i am undecided as to how much proof of anything the video is, other than life and whereabouts.

Still, it is better than seeing him in awful shape, and I hope that the release of the video is a step they took in order to negotiate.
