An older friend of mine (now long gone) always used the saying "racing away like a herd of turtles"
It now comes to be the embodiment of this news story.

75-year-old circus tortoise escapes, is found in time for Elizabeth performance

Berta, a 75-year-old circus tortoise that escaped from its cage earlier this month in Madison, Wisc., will be reunited today with the Zerbini Family Circus in time for a week-long run of shows in Elizabeth.

"He started to walk and couldn't find his way back," said circus owner and producer Alain Zerbini, 61. "It's not like he's a dog."

2. Reminds me of something my mom did one time:
And this story I'm not proud of, but mom was fed up with a stray dog that had been doing bad deeds around the neighborhood so she drove said dog out to the lake about 6 miles away and let it go, sure that it'd find a new home. She spent the rest of the afternoon doing errands and, yup, when she drove up to the house the dog was back.

9. I can suggest uses for their hands
In fcat, in my post, I think I did.

The only logical reason to unrec this is for wrong forum.

I dunno .... maybe its me. I just find anonymous hits to be cowardly.

11. You can only tell early in a thread's life when the unrecs exceed the recs and you see "
So, since two people reced it, and it is now at zero, two chickenshit jerkoff COWARDS gave it an unrec.

16. I had a "pet" tortoise for 15 years and didn't know it.
Edited on Sun Jul-19-09 11:43 PM by Marr
I thought the little bastard had... uh... "run" away about a week after he first came to live with me. Then one day, fifteen years later, I was trimming the hedges and voila-- a tortoise. He was just chewing away, happy as could be.

23. That's funny, I use the phrase "We're off, like a herd of turtles"
With my grandkids quite a bit..

To the point that all I have to say is "We're off" and they finish the phrase. :)
