Why would any Democrat oppose Unions or Health Care Reform? |
|
There are no two issues that more define what a Democrat is than these. So why are there Democrats in the Senate who stopped the Union Card Check Off and are opposing the Public Option for Health Care? (they should be pushing for Single Payer).

1. it depends on whether you define those as the core issues |
|
of the Democratic Party. If they are, well, than you are right. But presumably those blue-dogs would disagree with you.

be willing to happily accept anything less than a single payer system?
Yet there are some here who are giddy with the possibility that the present "reform" proposal just might be enacted. A proposal that will leave millions still without access to health care and facing penalties. But, het, I guess it is good for the conscience. We can pretend it helps.

10. Just because those are important issues for you, doesn't mean they are important to everyone. |
|
There are plenty of other Democratic issues that are just as important or more important than those.

11. I'm trying to keep it in mind that there are only three Democrats |
|
who oppose the current HC Reform proposal. They don't oppose health care reform per se. That said, I'd like to deprive every one of them their "socialized" health care until they pass a damn bill for the rest of us!

And they have a warped sense of how much money a "person" has determines how much representation/support they get...

18. You can hate unions and still register as a Democrat and run for office. It's easy. |
|
Party registration papers are all you need to enter the party. That's all. You don't really have to agree to the Democratic Party platform to register as a Democrat or run in a Democratic primary.
In fact, you'll probably get a lot more support from wealthy and well-connected individuals if you appeared to be against unions. They can run ads for you 24/7 to drown out your opponent. They really do have the cash to perform such a feat. This would give you an advantage in the race. If you win, you pay back the favors by blocking legislation that rich people oppose as a group, such as higher taxes on them and social programs they have ideological disagreements with.
