Shona Holmes didn't have a brain tumour...
Edited on Mon Jul-20-09 08:59 AM by SidDithers
as her ads for Patients United Now would have you believe. She had a Rathke's cleft cyst, as reported by the Mayo Clinic back in 2007. Kos diary here:

and more here:

Still, I found Holmes tale both compelling and troubling. So I decided to check a little further. On the Mayo Clinic's website, Shona Holmes is a success story. But it's somewhat different story than all the headlines might have implied. Holmes' "brain tumour" was actually a Rathke's Cleft Cyst on her pituitary gland. To quote an American source, the John Wayne Cancer Center, "Rathke's Cleft Cysts are not true tumors or neoplasms; instead they are benign cysts."

I almost feel sorry for Ms. Holmes. She's been involved in court cases in Canada for a few years, on behalf of our own right wingers. But by involving herself in the US health care debate, on the side of the wingnuts, she's entered a whole new ballgame. One that's played for keeps. I'll take no great joy when she gets destroyed, but I don't think I'll have much sympathy, either.

1. I have little sympathy for her as well...
She has been a willing participant in trying to destroy universal healthcare in Canada, fronted by the Canadian Constitution Foundation.

There is a thread gathering all possible info on Ms. Holmes and those behind her and this would be great info to add. Could you post this info on this thread as well?

3. I hope Move On TEARS HER APART
That's the ony way to handle this shit, tear her to shreds. Expose her lies and show her up for what the fuck she is.

4. What doesn't make any sense is what Congress is proposing
has little in common with the Canada health system. It's as though the ads and the medias non-response to them keeps alive this falsehood. Anytime any talking head even mentions Canada should be immediately corrected that this isn't the proposal.

5. The intent is to stop ANY real reform...
and because Americans are most familiar with Canada's healthcare system and, when informed, support public healthcare over private. It is imperative for the private healthcare gougers to create fear of any system other than the one that currently exists.

6. Their motto? Don't let facts get in the way of your agenda
If the media were to allow facts into their reporting life would look very different right now.

8. They don't care if what they say isn't true. As long as it stops the reform, then they've won.

7. And she doesn't have to worry about losing her health insurance
Meanwhile she's telling Americans not to give up their rights, but she still has her Canadian health coverage, so if she got sick tomorrow she's covered.

If she moved to the US she'd have to get used to a phrase that she's never heard of before - "Pre-Existing Condition".
