Fear of Obama Gun Grab Prompts Nebraska’s GOP Party Head to Shop Til He Drops

Mark Fahleson, chairman of the Nebraska Republican Party, suffers from a current popular delusion sweeping the righter-winger sections of the country: That Obama will ban or severely restrict all gun and ammunition sales.

From California and New Mexico to Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and New Jersey, gun sales, legal and illegal, are soaring. The FBI reports that background checks required for gun purchases have jumped over 25% between January and May of 2009-- from 4.8 million to 6.1 million--compared to the same period last year. Gotta make sure your militia's well-armed, that you have enough assault rifles to mow down a herd of deer, and that Granny's got a Glock because of cuts to the police force!

Mark and the rest are a bunch of sissy nit wits

1. What's going to happen to all of these people when President Obama never comes for their guns?
Will they admit it?

Will they collapse into a fetal position and curl up in the corner?

Or, will the gun companies and gun lobby use their cognitive dissonance to continue to brainwash them that a "round up" is coming and unburden them even further of their money?

2. The guns will sit in a back closet, unused, until someone gets tired of
moving it around, when it will be swapped for the neighbor's old riding mower, then swapped again, then swapped again, for some other piece of junk until it winds up in the hands of some druggie who got it in a trade for a bag of meth, where the police will find it in a raid on the lab.

And when the cops come around, the original owner will say 'I reported that stolen years ago.'

4. Exactly
...But I alos think these people are stocking up for something. No one amasses this amount of ammo and puns just to be "safe".

The Right is continually talking about "taking back our country" and using jingoistic words to justify their actions. Seems like every week there is a GOPer that lets slip some intent to do harm with a gun.

The 2nd Amendment does NOT give a person the right to gun ownership. It only calls for citizens to be able to form WELL REGULATED MILITIAS.

Regulated is the key word.

So I say...Regulate. Make EACH and EVERY gun owner personally responsible for the keeping and tracking of their ammo and guns.

3. When the "gun roundup" never happens, they'll say they prevented it from happening
via: (take your pick)- the NRA, certain pro-gun politicians, or some vague 'threat' that the gun lobby made against the Obama administration which caused Obama to call off the roundup. You can't win with these people.

9. Pure marketing. The gun industry knows exactly how stupid these people are.
Obama was a monetary bonanza waiting to happen.
