BERLIN - TEN people were left fighting for their lives and dozens more were injured after a 260-car pile-up on a German motorway caused by a thunderous downpour, police said on Monday.

The accident, which happened late ON Sunday on a 30-kilometre (18-mile) stretch of the A2 motorway near Braunschweig in northern Germany, was the worst in the road's history, police added.

More than 300 ambulances, fire engines and police cars rushed to the scene to tend to the 66 people injured in the crash, blamed on cars aquaplaning on puddles and a low sun dazzling drivers. -- AFP

4. Not knowing the Highway markings for Germany I wasn't' sure
that A2 wasn't a number for the Autobahn.

You know how we have 2 or 3 names here in the US for on road.

2. Can someone say if the U.S. corporation networks are covering this?
I looked at a few things on DU earlier this morning - this is the first mention? From Singapore - Straits Times?

Do you ever get the feeling that the U.S. corporation networks rarely report news outside the U.S. = unless it suits some propaganda purpose? I've been observing that the first reports come in from outside the U.S. and sometimes an event is not mentioned until hours of a day or two after? I swear it's because it has to be analyzed for slant or blackout by their right wing partners in charge of talking points and flips of truth and reality.

It makes sense that the less they reported in general, the more time and money they would spend in 'preparing and dressing the news for consumption by the public and therir followers to suit all of them'.
