Let's Think About This - What Would Health Reform Do For Job Creation?........
Seems to me health reform could be a boon for job creation. More people that will be in need of all kinds of medical services, products and care. I would think that up and down the line in health care more jobs would open up not to mention the fact that healthier people would be able to contribute more to society as well.

Let's take this thread and use it to ponder the types of jobs that might be created as our health system is reformed and everyone would be insured.

And please - take this seriously - I'm not interested in funny stuff - like more jobs for more talking heads on Faux News criticizing the system.

1. New jobs would be created in the medical services industry, but a steady loss of jobs
would be seen in the Health Insurance Industry. As more and more people and companies transition to the public option, the health insurance industry will lose revenue. However, the public insurance plan would also provide new jobs in the public sector (IT, accounting, support, services, etc), which would help offset the losses in the insurance industry.

7. As demonstrated on your other (now abandoned?) thread, the Public Option will not be open to all. nt

9. Your stalking my responses shows how desperate you are, you know that don't you?
And you, like those who oppose healthcare reform, are indeed very desperate to stop it.

2. You would also see an increase in small business startups.
Right now, if you have a job at a large corporation, it's risky to try that startup company that you've always wanted, because you may not be able to procure affordable health insurance for you and your family.

8. Agreed - it would be a "Windfall" for small business and start-ups
Most difficult part about running a Highly Successful small business is retaining your Key Personnel. Big Businesses with loaded benefits packages have prayed upon their smaller competitors for years luring away the highly talented / high skilled workers.

Affordable Health Insurance small business owners could provide their employees would considerably level that playing feild

10. It would actually make every business more efficient. Small or large.
Right now, businesses have to spend overhead choosing and administering health plans. With single-payer, every single business could jettison all that overhead. I think it would help smaller businesses more than larger ones (and the GOP is supposedly all about helping small business), but big corporations could make themselves a bit leaner and meaner too.

3. If they would need someone for marketing, or even a statistician, I'd sign up.
I love breaking down and adding up statistics...

4. It will cause a "good kind of problem" for the CEO compensation committees at the biggest insurers
to be sure.

Insurance companies make money by rationing care; don't expect an explosion of new medical services to be offered.

5. If it were single payer or an improved Medicare for everyone as
set out in House Bill HR 676 then not only would it increase jobs in the field but it might bring back jobs that have gone to Canada and New Zealand or at least create new jobs in those fields. However, a health care reform that still burdens businesses with the cost won't do any of that and that is what is being crafted.

6. Think bigger.
How many people suppress their ideas, choosing to stick with a dead-end job instead of starting a new business because they can't afford to lose their insurance?

To millions of americans, this bill represents freedom.

Is single payer cheaper? Yes.

This bill solves 90% of the problem.
