Now, a word from the "do nothing about health care" camp...

The "do nothing about health care" crowd thinks it smells blood in the water because of some recent poll numbers. But Obama's opposition has made the mistake of underestimating him before this. Remember the Rev. Wright controversy? Obama is the Energizer Bunny of American politics. The current plans in Congress clearly need more work. But the American people want something to be done.

Doing nothing is not a viable option. I encourage folks like Steele to get into the fray and work out a compromise. The GOP should not hitch its star to a dead-ender defense of HMOs, PPOs and the status quo.
