Brian Williams on MSNBC - what a lightweight... |
|
Edited on Mon Jul-20-09 01:40 PM by PCIntern
Listening to him wax about Cronkite is funny: here's a guy who has no substance, no classical training, no literary skills, no substance....OK, "no" is a bad word...let's just say 'little' compared with any of the folks fromm years ago, including, I must say, Aline Saarinen from NBC who predated Baba Wawa by years. Williams is a pretty-boy newsreader who has not one original thought in his head.

I wouldn't mind his personal attributes if I felt he told the truth.

10. He spent several days on the Gulf Coast covering Katrina. |
|
He had several reports from inside and outside the SuperDome. I may be wrong, but I think he was there or in the area the night Katrina hit New Orleans.

3. There is NO COMPARISON between Cronkite and Williams. |
|
Other than they are both white males. The rest is worlds apart.

4. I think Williams has talent |
|
Whenever he's off the news and can freely talk about the news and news industry he seems able to do the job. I think it's more about the major networks and their desire to really cover news anymore.

I enjoy his interviews on The Daily Show and late-night talk shows. I think anyone anchoring the evening news must follow network protocol. When he does appear on MSNBC, there is a noticeable difference in style and substance. If one wants to point to an awful NBC personality, they need not look further than David Gregory.
Nobody compares to Cronkite, so it's a bit pointless to try.

12. Watch what you say about Jim Gardner! |

Believe me, if you lived in LA, where entertainment news is the same thing as regular news, you'd be thanking god for stories about fires in row houses in Southwest Philly.

6. About 8 years ago (shortly after he ascended the throne at NBC) |
|
I heard him say in an interview that he listened to Rush Limbaugh to get the pulse of the country. Don't think I have heard more than a few sentences from him since.
