Matthews is consistently inconsistent
On the day after the last Maryland Senatorial primary, his guest was Kweisi Mfume. During the interview, Matthews gushed that he had voted for him over the eventual winner, the less liberal but still terrific Ben Cardin.

Today he has Cardin's loser opponent, Michael Steele on. During the interview they spar. They jab. They trade barbs. When it is over, Matthews gushes to Steele that he voted for him.

I can't make sense of this.

Mfume is as liberal as one can get.

Steele is ...... well ..... Steele.

Can anyone else square this?

9. I think you're onto something
Tweety is a frustrated groupie, star struck over any star that will deign to appear on his show and never able to realize he's being used by most of them.

6. Maybe he voted for him for Lt. Governor?
I'm way down here in Texas, but I seem to remember he was Erlich's Lt. Governor.

18. No, this was in our recent Senate race against FINE DEMOCRAT, Ben Cardin.
Yes, Steele was our Lt Governor, too. But that's a ticket election. We don't elect our Lt Governor separately like some other states do.

7. I remember an interview with Tweety where he talked about how much he loves the Beltway club.
He can be entertaining at times, but in the end he's just lap dog to anyone with power.

13. So nobody but me thinks he might have been talking about the Lt. Gov race
and not the Senate race?

Or should we just keep saying he's a compulsive liar and stuff?

16. Tweety also admittedly voted for the Shrub and he also said he voted for Obama.
Go figure.

He's a weather vane. Whichever way the wind blows. And, if he voted for Steele, I think everyone should take a second look at Matthews political "expertise." (Never mind that vote for the Shrub when he ran against Gore)

20. It's like that experiment with the pigeon
During the first part of the experiment, the pigeon pushes a lever and gets a treat. During the second part of the experiment, once the pigeon has learned the connection between pushing the lever and getting the treat, the "payoff" only comes every fifth push of the lever. Then every 10th push. Then every 50th push. Then the lever is disconnected from the treat dispenser, but the pigeon keeps pushing the lever, waiting and hoping for the treat that will never come again.

Thus it is with those who watch Chris Matthews. The memory of the treat once upon a time far outlives any treat that he's provided to his viewers for quite a long time.
