Obama wants to help Native Americans, then let him pardon and release Peltier and prove that we are returning to being a Nation of Laws and that these laws apply equally to all Americans.

Leonard is sick and needs to return to his people in his declining health to live out his life a free soul once again.

Even the Prosecuting attorney said there was no proof. The government also said "someone has to pay" for the deaths of the fbi agents. Leonard was not there..it was not Leonard's gun that killed the men nor is there any evidence. Why is this man still in prison?

But I don't count on Obama to do anything so righteous as to make it happen. Anyone who increases predator drone attacks in Pakistan is not someone with the sort of conscience that would consider reversing the injustice done to Leonard.

3. I can't forgive Clinton for buckling under to FBI pressure

and to refuse to even consider Peltier's case Leonard's continued detainment is so out of proportion to others convicted of similar crimes... Even for those who still maintain his guilt, this is pure racism at this point (and in my opinion) to keep him detained.

And especially try to get messages to Obama. He could release him right away if he pardons him..and boy wouldn't that send out a great message to the world that we are returning to being a nation of equality and laws for all?
I have not been real happy with Obama for a lot of the things he has not done (like uphold the laws and at least investigate cheney and bush's war crimes and all the republicans he has appointed and the people he appointed to the treasury etc etc...
I have liked however a lot of the other things Obama has done and it gives me hope still.
But if Obama were to pardon Peltier...well I will be his biggest cheerleader!

13. I was disappointed when Clinton didn't pardon him.

I remember seeing scary gun-toting FBI Agents marching in Washington to protest his release at the end of Clinton's term, at the time he was considering his list of candidates for pardons. I don't understand why the FBI was that worked up over one man, going to the trouble of brandishing weapons in public during their protest, unless there's more to this story than we have been told. I sure hope Obama does the right thing and sets this man free.
