Dear Obama: Quit sucking the oxygen from the room for policy protests..
Edited on Tue Jul-21-09 12:23 AM by ddeclue
Tonight you sent some minion from Organizing for America to my Democratic Executive Committee meeting in Orlando to suck the oxygen out of the room to support the Obama agenda instead of supporting the bigger Democratic agenda and I called your minion out for it.

It is silly to organize Democrats to go out to protest Republicans like Mel Martinez who aren't even running again and have nothing to fear from you. This is "feel good - do nothing" organizing that wastes time and energy we need for the upcoming elections.

It is crazy to organize Democrats to go out and a protest Democrat like Bill Nelson who is more popular and more electable than you are in Florida - all you are going to do is piss him off not change his vote.

We need YOU to come to Florida and work to get Democrats elected to Congress and to replace Mel Martinez in the Senate. We need you to work to get Democrats elected to the State House and the Governor's mansion in 2010. If you don't do this then don't count on Florida being "blue" for you in 2012.

Instead of doing this IMPORTANT task however, you are wasting everyone's time on organizing these naive and silly protests that convince naive supporters that they are doing something when in fact they are NOT. These people need to be focused on working precincts instead of protesting politicians whose minds are already made up - they need to be registering new Democratic voters and getting them signed up for absentee ballots.

You can't change policy by protesting politicians. The only way to change policy is to change the politicians that disagree with it.

Finally the lukewarm half hearted "health care plan" you are trying to pass isn't worth the paper it's printed on. All it will do is convince employers to dump employees from their existing plans and pay the token penalty instead and thereby force the employees to have to find individual coverage which will either be unaffordable, unavailable and/or inadequate to their needs.

Many will not even be able to be covered because of pre-existing conditions.

The so called "public option" seems to be an after thought and a head fake for the benefit of the Democratic base, not what we really need and deserve:

SINGLE PAYER HEALTHCARE.

1. Dear Modern Bride Magazine...
I've noticed that your journal is biased against senior citizens such as myself...
