Obama asking bloggers to help get healthcare reform bill passed.
I looked through a couple of pages here and did not see anything on this article from Huffington Post.

In a reflection of a legislative strategy that has left no stone unturned, President Barack Obama on Monday called on like-minded bloggers to help his administration keep the heat on lawmakers to pass health care reform.

"It is important just to keep the pressure on members of Congress because what happens is there is a default position of inertia here in Washington," the president said during an invitation-only conference call. "And pushing against that, making sure that people feel that the desperation that ordinary families are feeling all across the country, every single day, when they are worrying about whether they can pay their premiums or not... People have to feel that in a visceral way. And you guys can help deliver that better than just about anybody."

In a roughly 25-minute session with a handful of prominent progressive bloggers, the president also asked for help combating disinformation about his health care plan.

I think we are all contacting our Congressfolks on a regular basis. I post this just to remind everyone that the president is relying on people like us to put pressure on Congress. I sometimes criticize him and disagree with him on things, but I'm 100% with him on healthcare and plan to write once again tomorrow to my two senators and my representative. This is really, really important.

1. Kick
Weird that no one's posted it, but I haven't seen anything about it here. Usually I see posts about a certain subject pop up four or five times before they go away (unless it's one of those tangent things) but this just never surfaced near as I can tell.

2. Whose worried? Obama thinks we want to keep the insurance we have, or so he says. Now he says we
don't?

We single payer advocates turned hundreds of people out at Baucus' office about 6 weeks ago, and we are doing it again at Blue Cross Blue Shield across our state this coming Friday.

But the "public pool option" people just don't seems to have any passion about that plan. They won't even come out and protest the obscene influence of big money on our law makers.

I think there is confusion as to if they are working against the insurance industry or with the industry, and that confusion comes from cutting single payer out of the debate last December by Obama, some union Presidents, and Dem congressional leaders.

i think they have really fucked this up by not having a real open national debate, and instead just pretending to have a debate.

3. excellent. I'm glad to see this...but WE need to keep the pressure up ourselves
and urge our relatives to call and our friends to call. Let's put them on the hot seat and let them know we won't forget if they are a congressperson who sits and refuses to act when they have the heroic opportunity to be patriots and not partisans.
