Double trouble, Part 2: Bush Twins
Source: Yahoo News

Underage drinking, disregarding "strong suggestions" from the U.S. Embassy, regular appearances in Vogue fashion spreads — the Bush twins made more than their fair share of national headlines during their eight years in the White House. And it looks like they're not done.

According to the New York Post, a new book by former Washington Post reporter Ronald Kessler details how Jenna and Barbara gave the Secret Service "fits" during Bush's presidency. From an excerpt in the Post:

"Jenna would purposely try to lose her protection by going through red lights or by jumping in her car without telling agents where she was going. As a result, in a total waste of manpower, the Secret Service kept her car under surveillance so agents could follow her."

And it wasn't just the twins who stirred up trouble for the Secret Service — Kessler also claims that Jenna's now-husband Henry Hager got so drunk at a 2005 party that agents had to take him to a Georgetown hospital.

11. Bush Twins
Secret Service members would have lost their jobs had the girls been harmed after eluding their protection. However, I do agree that they should have protection as long as they feel the need.

31. ???
Poster stated that the b*sh twins still need SS protection, "as long as they feel the need". They are no longer the first frauds anymore... so Why the fuck should they still be protected on the taxpayers dime??? Not especially when they can afford the protection themselves.

23. That wasn't their fault or their doing. Their father chose to be president.
We should accept it for what it is, a necessary cost of having a president in a world like ours, and of not having any right to deprive young people of autonomy for circumstances beyond their control.

7. I agree!
They should just leave them alone as there is no news worthy info other than to to make them look bad. I want to vomit when I think about their Dad but they are simply girls growing up and should be left alone!

I would have to think if I were a teenager with all that security I would have played many games with them and would have tried to lose them when I needed a break! FO SHO!

12. Did you risk the lives of people whose duty it was to guard you?
Look, I have sympathy for the fact that they were college kids.

But I have no sympathy for the fact that their behavior made the SS jobs more difficult.

Really, what the Bush twins should have done was taken up their problems with their parents, and NOT made the job of the SS harder.

5. Bush and the twins are still milking the system.
Edited on Mon Jul-20-09 07:17 PM by superconnected
"But why are the twins still under secret agent surveillance?

According to CBS, the adult children of former presidents lose Secret Service protection once dad leaves office. But The Reliable Source, a Washington Post blog, reported that before he left office, George W. Bush signed a presidential directive to "extend security protection for his twin daughters for an undisclosed period of time." (Former President Clinton did the same for Chelsea when he left office)."

and yes it matters, as it shows how the entire family disrespects all of us. It is too bad anyone is that rude and self destructive. But the costs of this behavior should be charged to W and not us.

17. Apparently, according to the article, the Big Dick.....
...can't afford his own protection so the President extended his taxpayer funded Secret Service detail.

Guess the Big Dick and Mrs. the Dick aren't as wealthy as we suspect and had to get on their hands and knees and beg the Obama administration not to leave them defenseless from some unnamed boogey man.

lol looking pretty elegant and mature there

(btw, I'm a Chelsea Clinton fan - but I don't think she's perfect or infallible...which makes her just like every other human)

Bottom line: it's dirty and petty to drag politician's kids into the fray, regardless of who their parents are.

You were the g.d. first daughters, Jenna and Not Jenna, you could have tried to at least act like you had some respect for the power you could have had as examples to America's young wormen. As it was, what? Were you trying to get corporate sponsorship from Bimbo cakes or something?

43. You can't choose your parents. I am surprised they weren't even worse.
They may be bratty and over privileged but part of it could have been a rebellious reaction to having your father being George W. Bush of all people and being the President when you know what a stupid tool he is. Just like poor Bristol Palin. Can't help it that your parents are idiots and did a poor job raising you. The further these kids get into adult hood I bet the happier they get (away from their parents).
