He was a tourist in Memphis at a Bestbuy buying some connector piece for his TV on his motor home. The TV'S were all on and about 6 screens were on news networks showing coverage of Obama's afternoon presser when the tourist told the sale associate he didn't want to be paying for others to have health care.....so I butted in and ask you from around here,he said he was from Ft.Meyers FL....I said you get a few hurricanes every decade don't you....he said yes we do....I then said I don't want to pay for anymore homes to be fixed with taxpayers dollars...


He rushed the sales associate along and got the HELL out of there...I told the associate they get sensitive when you get personal...he said he yes they do and said he was glad to get the sale.

5. Kudos...and I live in FL

I have lived here for 6 years and have NEVER lived in a place where people want it all, but don't want to pay for any of it.

We have the most unfair property tax system imaginable, aka "Save Our Homes" which causes similar properties to be taxed at grossly different amounts, based on how long you have lived in your house.

Any tax here is too much tax. Then they blame the teachers for the poor schools, complain that police don't respond fast enough, yada yada.

And they have no income tax, and ~6% sales tax in most of the state. And still complain that they are being 'taxed to death.'

It's maddening.

Ask 'em how many folks in Florida are on those "government run health care plans" called medicare and medicaid, not to the VA hospitals they constantly lobby congress to build down here.
