Can someone tell me exactly what the Blue Dogs' demands for Health Reform are?
Edited on Tue Jul-21-09 06:11 PM by jsamuel
They said they had a list of about 10 things that they wanted, but so far all I have heard is that it needs to be deficit neutral (good with me) and that it needs to cut costs (not sure exactly what they mean by that).

question answered here:

5. They want health reform that doesn't hurt the insurance companies and costs nothing.
Basically, they want the status quo. This whole notion of wanting bipartisanship and stating that we need to "slow things down" is nothing more than wanting to kill the process entirely.

8. Essentially they don't want to do anything, like always, because
taking responsibility is hard work and they don't like that.

9. Off the top of my head
The public option has to have a means of paying for itself, it can't be fully taxpayer funded.
The rest of the plan has to be deficit neutral.
Medicare payment problems need to be fixed.
Insurance or the public option won't be required to pay for abortion in accordance with the Hyde Amendment.
It can't be a stepping stone to single payer and have so much government backing that people don't have the choice of private insurance anymore.

I can't think of anything else.

14. Mandatory Corporate Insurance for all, including those currently on Medicare
That's their ultimate goal. With no chance in Hell of any REAL reform, once everyone is "covered".

18. exactly. Just look at how much $$$ pharma and the insurance boys have spent on congress in 2009
It's absolutely nauseating.

The REAL solution would be to take profit out of medicine, make it single payer.

17. Defend corporate profits at all costs.
Don't expect them to admit that though.
