Proud Emma Thompson poses with adopted refugee son at graduation

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1201227/Proud-Emma-Thompson-poses-adopted-refugee-son-graduation-years-later.html?ITO=1490

Six years ago she saved him from a life of unimaginable hardship, as a child soldier in war-torn Rwanda.
And yesterday Emma Thompson beamed with pride as she watched her adopted African son graduate from university.

From September, Tindy plans to attend London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, where he will study for a Masters Degree in Human Rights Law.

Sniff, I already loved Emma Thompson.

3. Who knew?
Did anyone know about her having done this? I pride myself on keeping up with celebrity gossip, but this one went right under my radar.

She's wonderful - in a whole new way now, yes.

Thanks for this great bit of news. What a joy!

9. That's really beautiful :-) (in spite of the jacket)

I can't help thinking of the contrast of what could have been (him still in Rwanda, if he was still alive) vs.. this happy, smiling young man looking forward to a promising future.

I wish everyone could have such a hopeful future.

edited to add: and for the record, a good photographer would have caught that and adjuster her jacket! I wonder if it was taken on a timer!?

10. She's not just an actress, she's written award winning screenplays
and won an Oscar for her "Sense and Sensibility" adaptation. IOW, she's not just a pretty face and it's nice to know she's got a huge heart to go along with that brain.

She's long been a favorite.
