"Government bureaucrats will stand between you and your doctors?"
Edited on Tue Jul-21-09 10:29 PM by Ardent15
I trust the government more than the insurance company bureaucrats that stand between people and their doctors.

The government has an obligation to the people. The insurance companies have an obligation to turn a profit. Why can't certain people wrap their heads around this concept?

1. I don't trust any bastard insurance companies. They do whatever
they can to screw you out of your money.

2. I would rather......
deal with the government than my husband's health insurance company. I call them combat insurance because that is what it takes to get virtually any help or payment out of them.

They don't care if you live or die, as long as they show a profit. They told me once when we were appealing one of their refusals to pay that was clearly covered, "We don't check the coverage before we make our determinations." If the hospital my husband was in had not gone after them for us, he would have died.

3. My coworker's mother had a very rare form of cancer
her insurance company said they didn't have to pay as it was so rare. It nearly put her husband in bankruptcy. They also were caught in the do-nut hole. She died 5 months after diagnosis.

11. I'm so sorry to hear that......
I have met so many people who have had their health insurance give them little or no help. My husband was in the hospital 16 weeks with MRSA. Every day I would go and spend with him, all dressed in the contagion gear they had me wear and slathered with disinfectants both before and after going into his room.

A lot of the family members of other patients would talk to me and nearly all of them had loved ones getting less care than they needed or fighting to get any care at all. This is got to stop. People are worth more than a bottom line profit. I asked an insurance company represent ive during one of my frequent wrangles with them how much she thought her life was worth. Of course she thought it was worth a great deal. When I asked her how she could feel that way and perform actions which ended other peoples lives, she replied that she didn't think of it that way. I told her she better start because if my husband died I would be calling her back to make sure she did think of it that way.

This has got to stop. Thank you for answering my post, and my condolences to your coworker and her family. It may not mean much from a stranger, but it is heart felt.

5. told the story before ... Mrs. ZBDent had a mammogram ... Dr. called the next available day
saying "we saw something we need to have checked out, call to schedule". Left this on the machine. Drs. and such can't leave specifics on answering machines.

The communication between Mrs. ZBDent and her doctor is at a point where, if she didn't hear from him, things were okay. This was her actual doctor saying "we need to have this checked out". Mrs. ZBDent gets very paranoid, since cancer was in her family.

So, the next day, Mrs. ZBDent called Kaiser to make the "urgent" appointment ... first they could do it? A month later ... oh, she didn't get to talk to the doctor, she had to go through Kaiser's bureaucratic process ...

thankfully, what they found was the usual type of thing, which was NOT cancer.

6. They seem to have no problem with putting government bureaucrats
between pregnant women and their doctors.

7. Better them than Aetna or Premera or Group Health or Blue Cross
The government is far less likely to cause that problem than the bloodsucking leeches we call health insurance providers.

8. corprat bureaucrats are now standing between us and our doctors...
...and they're vultures out to make a profit out of our injuries, sickness and death.

At least the government would be making profits off it.
